Summary

How far will he go to have his revenge?

When the fingers of dead women start showing up in the Supreme Court’s mail, ex-FBI Agent Jeremy Winter is brought back to the Bureau to aid in the investigation. Agent Maggie Keeley, his girlfriend and now boss, leads the search for the serial killer. Together, Jeremy and Maggie learn the five remaining cities on the murderer’s list, but they have no idea when the killer will strike or whom he will target.

When they stumble upon a clue at the scene of a young woman’s death, the case focuses on an abandoned ramshackle home in sparsely populated west Texas. As the FBI closes in, the ante is upped in ways no one could have imagined, forcing Jeremy to choose between justice and revenge.

Mmmmmm

All I could hear was the narrator's annoying habit of extending the start of some words, especially if it began with a mmmmm!
Story was alright, and I'd listen to another one if it was narrated by someone else, and like this included in membership. Not worth buying in my opinion.

Irritating narration

I'm sorry I couldn't get past chapter 12. The story seemed to be my sort of thing. But, the the narrator had a very strange form of delivery and repeatedly missed punctuation when reading, the book, this made it disjointed. He also extended the first letter of new sentences, very odd.

Next book quick

Gripping books, so tense, difficult to stop listening. Loving the 2 main characters. Loathing the colonel and keep expecting something bad to happen to Rebecca or Maggie, Dreading it to happen the next book.

Engaging and decent story

I read other reviews saying the narrator was robotic. I thought he was great, suited the story and characters plus you could hear everything he said clearly. I like there is another story running in the background and the main story believable, kept me engaged.

good story

only problem is the almost prerequisite bad guy behind the scenes gunning for the hero.

Contrived

Loved the first of this series, stayed up all night to finish it, even though the narrator sounded like he had to record in insert words on regular occasions (especially at the beginning of the book).

Unfortunately the second book is contrived and 2/3rds was not an easy listen as I stuck it out to finish the book. The narrator made the process confusing as he has limited voices and would use the same voice for several people, sometimes the main character as well.

Glad it was part of Audible Premium & did not need to pay for it. Will not continue with this author.
