About this listen
Private Investigators Troy and Eva Winters are thrilled when Troy’s sister, Sadie, announces that she and her family are moving to Elk River, only a 25-mile drive from New Haven, where Troy and Eva live. Now, Sadie will be close to her family, and with their support, they can try to help her overcome her debilitating panic disorder of agoraphobia.
Troy’s day of cleaning up the grounds around Cypress Bluff Inn after a storm is suddenly shattered when he receives a cryptic message from his 10-year-old niece, Willow. Her cry for help and the startling message that says, ‘the bad guys are here,’ sends Troy’s distress alarm into overdrive. It doesn’t take him long to realize the deadly consequences that lie ahead.
With Eva out of town, Troy sets out for Elk River on his own with no idea of the danger he’ll soon be facing. He’s close enough to Willow to know the threat is real, and the urgency in her voice confirms it. Just when a flicker of hope appears, Eva goes missing. Time is not on Troy’s side and the clock is quickly ticking down.
Editorial Review:
“Private investigators Troy and Eva Winters are working at their Oregon bed-and-breakfast inn when Troy gets a disturbing voicemail indicating that his sister’s family is in danger. Eva has just left town on a new case and finishes up early, but before she can join her husband in finding out what’s wrong at his sister’s house, Eva investigates on her own and ends up missing. North has a real knack for ramping up the tension and adding plot twists galore that keep the reader guessing.” (Angela M., Line Editor, Red Adept Editing)

I loved the narration of David Scott, he can bring out the action, scary voices. Perfect.
It is full of suspenseful and of mystery with well-rounded characters. Sit back and enjoy the plot and narration.

Enjoyable Listen.
Another enjoyable listen from K. J. North, I've not listened to book 1 in the series but am familiar with Troy and Eva from the other series. I think this would qualify as a stand alone however. The characters are good and the book is well paced. An evil person launches an attack on Troy's family and he of course gets involved. not edge of the seat listening but addictive. Highly recommended. David Scott is perfect for this kind of story and does his usual brilliant job of bringing it to life.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the narrator and leave this honest review.

Nice fast-paced story
Likeable characters (except, of course, for the bad guys) Fast-paced story, but not too jam-packed with action to be off putting.
The Narrator is perfect for the story too. He has a great voice to listen to, and kept me drawn in to the story.

Another great book in the series
I am really enjoying this series and it was quite a fun read. It made sense as a listen, the narration worked and the plot worked, the character development is continuing but new characters are being introduced.

Enjoyable
This was a fun story to listen too, the narrator did well to bring the book alive. Unfortunately their was no twists in the tale, I like a good twist.

Good characters and top narration
Excellent narration a perfect fit for this good story with excellent characters; hapless criminals I almost felt sorry for and detectives you're rooting for really. Very enjoyable and recommended.

Good story
This is an honest review in exchange for a free download.
I really enjoyed this story. The characters are well developed and storyline is catchy.
However I do not like the narration, making it less enjoyable to listen to.
