About this listen

The new novel from the #1 Sunday Times bestselling author of Icebreaker and Wildfire...

As a chronic procrastinator, Henry Turner always knew his junior year in college wasn’t going to be easy. That was before he made ice hockey captain as well as landing himself in a difficult class with his least favourite professor.

Thankfully, it’s then that Henry meets Halle, a fellow junior who he immediately befriends. Academic pressure has never been a struggle for Halle, but as an introverted people pleaser with a tendency to overcommit herself, she can’t help but offer to help Henry pass his class. In turn he offers to help make college life a little more inspiring – just the thing she needs as an aspiring novelist…

Failure isn’t an option for either of them but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a little room for distraction…

Not suitable for younger listeners.

If you’re dating a male with ADHD then this is the book your heart needs!

A gorgeous and utterly real account of what it is like to date a male who has ADHD. Thank you Hannah Grace for writing the book my heart and soul needed. Full of gorgeous nods to the previous two books and yet still maintaining its own unique flavour. The reassurance I got from the neurodivergent content will stay with me my whole life - I’ve never felt my own experiences be so validated before & love how delicately and yet rawly those topics were covered.
Thank you thank you thank you

The Maple Hill Gang needs some drama!!

Having loved the first two books from the Maple Hill series, I was beyond excited for the third instalment and when Hannah Grace announced Daydream, well it instantly went on my TBR Wishlist.

When I first started the book I was greeted with a note to reader from Hannah noting how she had had a lot of questions around Henry’s undiagnosed Neurodivergence. I thought this was a great touch to include as in today’s modern society, an awful lot of people still go undiagnosed and I appreciated Hannah noting that this would remain the case for Henry.

This brings me round to my next point. As someone who is Neurodivergent themselves, I found myself relating to He ry in such a comforting way. There is an awful lot of stigma around people with Autism & ADHD and yet Hannah did such a wonderful job of writing about the amazing sides of being Neurodivergent but also didn’t shy away from the parts that are not so desirable. Henry not liking soft touch, becoming over stimulated in busy environments, having a social meter that quickly taps out and wanting to be alone when everything seems so overwhelming. I found myself feeling so much more connected to Henry than I have been to any of the other characters within the Maple Hill series and loved that Halle had knowledge of neurological disorders with her sister and didn’t try to “fix him”.

On a slightly separate note, HG brought back a lot of the original characters we have all come to know and love from the last two books. The Maple Hill gang so to speak. I would love to see Hannah add some variety to the friendships built within each book and the newer characters as I feel like it’s become too predictable that the new FMC will automatically be adopted into the gang and everyone will love them. I would love to see some different introductions into the group. Maybe one of the girls knows the MMCs new love interest, perhaps they don’t like one another? Or used to be friends but had a falling out which they seek to overcome throughout the book. Maybe one of the new love interest has even dated one of their boyfriends in the past. I think exploring side storylines such as this will open different avenues of where the characters could go as I feel as though currently, I can only see them developing the same friendships with any new female love interest in future books and can already see this becoming repetitive.

With that being said, I did enjoy Daydream overall. Hannah Grace’s writing is fun, light and engaging. I’m excited to see what she does next with the Maple Hill gang!

Slow SLOW burner.

** WARNING SPOILERS **
I really wanted to love this after Icebreaker and Wildfire, but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The romance is a slow burn, careful and measured, rather than the more intense rushed feelings that were in Grace's previous two books. I enjoyed it enough to finish the book, though I did at times feel like I ended up daydreaming whilst waiting for something to happen, only for it to suddenly shift gear and wrap up quickly in the last few chapters. Personally I found the eldest daughter trope a bit over done, and at times I found myself eye rolling at the idea a man could be SO kind and thoughtful, without ever putting a foot wrong - but then these men are fiction!

4.5 stars!

I just absolutely loved this one. In my opinion, it's the best one of the series. I absolutely adored the characters and the story, how it wasn't all sunshine and daisies, but the characters had flaws and showed such growth throughout. I also really enjoyed listening to these narrators. Great overall!

Perfection!

Honestly, one of the best books I’ve listened to! Loved the whole series, felt this one was a lot deeper- in a good way! Love Henry and Halli so much. Sad I’ve finished the series

Really a daydream

From Icebreaker I knew Henry is very sweet and his book would be good.

This is definitely my favorite Hannah Grace book and one of my favorites from this year.

The way their relationship developed slowly, with a lot of communication, made me so happy. The title is so appropriate, as the is like a daydream.

I said it before, friends make best lovers and as in my case, best husbands. So I enjoy romances with this trope.

Regarding the audiobook, I think the narrators were great.
