Summary
Poppy is nothing special. She was making ends meet and trying to enjoy life. But a strange necklace caught her eye at the thrift store. Now, three gorgeous men have stumbled into her life, and she's torn between being terrified and excited. That is, until they tell her she is the future queen of the Underworld.
Not only that, but she needs to bond with her hellhounds - the three heads of Cerberus - and protect the Underworld from a goddess who wants it for herself. Forced to face unnatural enemies, and too-sexy-for-their-own-good men, Poppy must choose: Keep the life she's always had, or take her rightful place as queen. If she survives.
Contains mature themes.

The narrator is to die for
The female lead is an abhorrent pick me, male leads are shameless groomers. But the narrator's voice make up for most of it. Deep dark tones .. divine

love the myths but quite short
too short considering it's the same price as other novels but the mythological element is refreshing

So so good
What an excellent start to this series! Very enjoyable from the very beginning. It’s a storyline that captured me from the first chapter. Excellent action and adventure. Great performances from both narrators. This is my first book narrated by Troy, oh what a soothing voice to listen to. Well done guys.

Not great 😔
I love retellings and Troy Duran’s narration, so I thought this one was a no brainier. Unfortunately, we don’t get a lot of Troy’s voice at all and the entire story is just a bit meh 😒 I couldn’t get into it and I’m not a big fan of Cassandra’s voice neither.
Poppy was chosen to be the next queen of the underworld and she didn’t even believe in the supernatural until she meets her hellhound harem.
The first book in this trilogy sees her find out and embrace her destiny. With spice and battles and ghosts too.
It was interesting enough but I wouldn’t pay for it. Luckily it’s free on plus catalogue audible.

Struggling to finish
The story seemed jumpy, it didn't flow seamlessly. Boring. The narration lacked a little something also

Excruciating.
Such a disappointment. I thought I'd find something a little different, but instead of inverting any tropes, this book reinforces them. Do not say your character is a strong independent woman if she is blatantly not. Very little plot, just a smutty romance - by the end of the book, nothing has happened. A contributory factor to that would be the length, it's clearly very short, more of an introduction than anything more substantial. If current themes continue, expect no attention to the actual Persephone/Underworld aspect.
Female narrator fine, male narrator sounded off.
