Summary
Returning early from a disastrous date night with my husband, I know something is wrong the moment the wheels crunch the gravel drive of our home. Inside, the TV is on and a half-eaten meal waits on the table. My heart stops when I find our little girl is alone in the house and our babysitter, Sasha, is missing....
Days later, when I’m arrested for Sasha’s murder and torn away from my perfect little family, I’ll wish I had told someone about the threatening note I received that morning.
I’ll hate myself for not finding out who the gift hidden inside my husband’s wardrobe was for.
I’ll scream from the rooftops that I’m innocent - but no one will listen.
I will realise I was completely wrong about everything that happened that night....
But will you believe me?
Twisted and absolutely unputdownable, Date Night exposes what goes on behind the closed doors of a happy home and the dangerous truths we ignore to protect the ones we love. Perfect reading for anyone totally gripped by The Wife Between Us, Friend Request or Gone Girl.

I absolutely loved this shocker of a book...left me stunned, as to the why, well you are just going to have to read the book and see.... One of the most exciting psychological thrillers I’ve read all year...just buy it you won’t be disappointed I promise." (The Book Review Café, 5 stars)

"Writing that gets the hairs standing up on the back of my neck.... A fast-paced psychological thriller of the finest order...chillingly good." (nigeladamsbookworm, 5 stars)

excellent ending
took a little while to get into, but brilliant twist at the end
Libby really needed to trust her gut. would have preferred the epilogue to have included Shaun's mum outcome. recommended read

Keeps you waiting
I had to keep going, till I had it finished in one day. It still leaves questions. Which I want to know. Great read.

A good listen
I enjoyed this book and loved the way the story kept me guessing . As ever the narrator is crucial in relating the story and I thought this narrator was very good at distinguishing between the voices male and female . My only slight irritation was how the child is voiced . Too simpering and lispy . More how people think a child speaks rather than reality . But I find this in a lot of audiobooks . Overall would recommend.

oh my gosh, I wasn't expecting that!!
Umm, I wasn't expecting that! 😳 There was a lot going on. I was sure I knew who did it. But then it wasn't them, so I'd decide on someone else, and again nope! 🤔 I wasn't envisaging that ending!!!

Too many loose ends
I actually enjoyed this until the end when you’re left hanging and have no idea if all the awful awful characters received penance.

Excellent
This was my first book by Samantha Hayes. It was so good I downloaded the recommended one straight away called The Reunion - which was also brilliant. It's difficult to get a real twist in the tale but Samantha Hayes packs a punch you don't see coming!
