Summary

Featuring cast from the original television series, Blood and Fire is a special audio drama to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dark Shadows.

'Some are born with magic, some acquire magic, and others have magic thrust upon them...'

The year is 1767. Young widow Laura Murdoch Stockbridge is to marry Joshua Collins, heir to the Collins fortune. Meanwhile, Joshua's sister Abigail is in love with disreputable sailor Abraham Harkaway.

But the course of true love never did run smooth...especially when the witch Angélique Bouchard is around. For Angélique has been sent back in time. And she has one mission.... To destroy the Collins family forever.

Directed by Ursula Burton and Joseph Lidster.

Critic reviews

"I am happy to say that the future of Dark Shadows is safe in his and Big Finish's hands." (9/10 - Planet Mondas)
" Blood and Fire is arguably the purest distillation of Dark Shadows since the show went off the air on 2 April, 1971 [...] the result is sublime, tragic and triumphant." (10/10 - Sci-Fi Bulletin)

Operatic.

A Dark Shadows addition is always welcome, Big Finish do their usual magic and so does Angelique, .up to her wildly enigmatic version of no good once again! Brilliant fun.

Great to hear another story from Dark Shadows

I loved this performance, especially recognising some of the voices from the original actors from the series. I grew up in the 70s in England so I never knew about the Dark Shadows series until a few years ago, and I've watched every episode twice on Amazon Prime :) and I love everything about it, even the shaky scenery and the actors fluffing their lines (because they produced a new episode daily!) and it became part of the charm of the series for me. I fell in love with the actors, loved the different time periods, loved the costumes and the stories and the feel of the whole experience of binge-watching the series. When it ended I found the audio books/performances and they are a great extension of the original series. Lara Parker and the other actors have kept Dark Shadows alive with the audio books and I have about 6 of the books in my collection now, I plan to buy them all!
