About this listen
The morning after the Netherfield ball, Elizabeth Bennet refuses an offer of marriage, setting off a row in the Bennet household that ends tragically.
Faced with homelessness and untenable poverty, Elizabeth receives a different sort of offer - from quite an unexpected quarter - and finds herself considering the once-inconceivable prospect of going into trade.
When Elizabeth and her sisters open a tea shop in Meryton, she must deal with Mary's penchant for entertaining the customers, Mama's enthusiasm for the officers, Kitty's fear of French spies, Caroline Bingley's relentless attempts to degrade her, and Mr. Darcy's irritating refusal to get out of her life!

Enjoying Pride &Prejudice in an alternate universe
This is a delightful variation of Pride and Prejudice that has the feel of being in an alternate universe. Let me be absolutely clear, this is not a sci-fi story. Not at all. The basic plot is the same. The era presented by the setting and language is also the same. It differs in the details and therein lies the drama, intrigue and fun. This book is thoroughly enjoyable for anyone who loves Jane Austen. It starts a little slowly but is well worth persevering as the plot begins to thicken.
Jannie Meisberger's narration compliments Kate Bedlow's story wonderfully. She brings the characters to life and gives credibility to the regency setting.
Pride and Prejudice delight through and through!!
