About this listen

Killashandra, one of the most gifted singers on Ballybran, is drawn like a magnet to the song of crystal. In order to work with crystal, singers are infected with a symbiotic life form that heals them and gives them near eternal life—but slowly destroys their memories. Since crystal singing brings Killashandra ecstasy, she doesn't mind the initial small annoyances of memory loss. What she hadn't counted on was the loneliness she felt when her heart still remembered what her mind had forgotten—the names of her friends and lovers. Can the crystal that destroyed her memory somehow restore it? By reclaiming her unpleasant past, can Killashandra step forward into the future?

The sound was a little iffy!

The story I loved, but the supposedly baritone brain ship was distorted and made to sound mehanical which perhaps was a sign of not having read the Ship series!

It never disappoints, loved the series.

I’ve read this 3 book series so many times over the years and I’m never disappointed. My paperback version is almost falling apart it’s so well used, I decided to invest in the audible versions as well and I enjoyed the story just as much.

Appalling sound quality.

The narrator sounds like they were recorded down a phone line. The story is standard Anne McCaffrey but the audio is unlistenable.

Bad sound quality

A real shame about the awful sound quality. I could have done better on my phone.

Terrible audio

The sound quality on this is awful which spoiled listening to a good story by Anne Mccaffrey.

Terrible quality audio - couldn’t finish.

I’ve read the book previously. I switched off the audio book. Quality is dreadful. I wish I’d listened to the sample.

Very poor sound quality.

I’ve read the story before, which I enjoyed again on Audible. However, the sound quality on this recording is atrocious. The first 2 books of this series are fine, but this one sounds like it’s been recorded over a bad phone line. I’m glad it’s a short book, or I wouldn’t have listened to it all. Will attempt to get a refund due to sound quality.

Disappointing audio quality

What a shame! The first two books into be series were grey, however the audio quality in this one is dreadful and is more reminiscent of someone using an old phone on a bad line to dictate. Had to stop listening after a few minutes.
