About this listen

The Sequel to Cop Out

Detective Ivan Bekker has hit rock bottom. Not only is he recovering from a bad breakup with a cheating boyfriend, he's also involved in a drug bust gone bad. Ivan had to kill a man, and his friend was shot and is now fighting for his life. Though Ivan is under investigation for his part in the shooting, his boss sends him on an off-the-books undercover operation to close the case. The timing is critical - this could be their chance to plug a leak in the department.

Off-balance and without backup, Ivan finds himself playing a recent divorce and becoming Parker Wakefield's roommate. He finds it hard to believe that sweet Parker could possibly be a criminal, much less have ties to a Russian mafia drug-trafficking operation, and Ivan lets down his guard. His affection is unprofessional, but Parker is irresistible.

When Ivan comes across clear evidence of Parker's criminal involvement, he has to choose: protect their relationship, regardless of the consequences, or save his career and arrest the man he loves.

Loved it.

It was a pageturner, although I understood the plot every time an unexposed villain entered the scene. The romance had no surprises or set backs. At some places, when the tension was high, Burn should have skipped a lot of details.
The narrator was good but the change in scenes was often glossed over without a pause and I could not always distinguish between Parker and the narrative. Corrections in the track were noticeable.

Five stars or more

The only comment I would make is regarding the performance. Sometimes it was difficult to notice that a new paragraph has started as narration just flows with no significant breaks.

Love Isn't Easy!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely recommended listening. The story's developing interaction between two very believable characters made me care what happened to them

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cover Up, Toronto Tales?

Difficult to say without giving anything away!

What about Tristan James’s performance did you like?

Tristan's narration definitely added to my enjoyment

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I definitely got a lump in my throat!

Any additional comments?

As much as I enjoyed the first book in the series, this was even better. There is some continuity from the first book with returning characters, and the author had me on the edge of my seat. If you like thrills and excitement then listen to this. A definite must for all romantics!
