After Willoughby’s desertion, what finally caused Marianne to see Colonel Brandon in a different light?
This is not a variation but a supplement to the original story, chronicled in Brandon’s point of view. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the things Jane Austen didn’t tell us about a true hero—"the very best of men".

Fabulous!
Another success from this author. The way her stories reflect the style of Jane Austen is brilliant. The narration was wonderful, definitely sounded like the late great Alan Rickman!

Almost melancholic
The narrator sounds just like Alan Rickman who played Colonel Brandon in the 1995 film which is wonderful. The tone throughout this wonderful audiobook is patient, self-effacing and tinged with melancholy and regret. Strangely, it's not at all depressing. Marianne was a very fortunate lady to have inspired such a depth of love and steadfastness.

Is he autistic?
Not nearly up to the of her other books.
The colonel comes across as wooden and oh so holy. I nearly stopped listening as it was so slow pedantic and boring .
Where’s the previous colonel bright clever and full of life and also mischief ?

Stick to Austen!
None of the wit, social commentary and irony of Jane Austen’s original writing. A poor imitation of the language of the time, and overly explanatory when it comes to customs. Expands upon a secondary character, but does not add much to the original story except by way of backstory. Incorporates random phrases and half phrases from a number of Jane Austen’s writings, making the reader question whether this was written with the aid of Chat GPT or some other artificial intelligence tool. That said, it's well narrated and an easy listen.
