About this listen
Not even Lake Eden’s nosiest residents suspected Hannah Swensen would go from idealistic newlywed to betrayed wife in a matter of weeks. But as a deadly mystery unfolds in town, the proof is in the pudding....
When The Cookie Jar becomes the setting of a star-studded TV special about movies filmed in Minnesota, Hannah hopes to shine the spotlight on her bakery - not the unsavory scandal swirling around her personal life. But that’s practically impossible with a disturbing visit from the shifty character she once believed was her one and only love, a group of bodyguards following her every move, and a murder victim in her bedroom.
Now, swapping the crime scene in her condo for her mother Delores’ penthouse, Hannah and an old flame team up to solve a case that’s messier than an upended chocolate cream pie.
As suspects emerge and secrets hit close to home, Hannah must serve a hefty helping of justice to an unnamed killer prowling around Lake Eden...before someone takes a slice out of her!

More cookbook than novel
Disappointed by this book in the series. Far too many recipes, which are not interesting to hear read aloud, they would be better at the end as an optional listen, especially as many ingredients seem to be pre-packaged one’s local to the US. The story was quite thin and not much of a mystery to solve. Narrator ok, but I think she makes Dolores’ character sound too old, and others a bit too high pitched. Hope the series improves after this one

was that it?
I am a big fan of this series of books. But this was a let down. To often was the flow of the book interrupted by a recipe. And LONG ones at that. This is not a nine hour book. It took forever for the murder and there was so little detecting. I was very disapointed. I waited a long time for this book and felt let down. 1/3 was recipes. And all of them can only be made if you live in america, with all the premade stuff that is in them.
The narrator is the highlight of the experience. Suzanne Toren is always good.

Not sure if it is a work of fiction or a cook book
The last book in the series I will download. It’s fine from being a decent work of fiction to a cook book. The characters have started to grate. Delores and her daughters are uhh!!!
Would give a minus star rating for the story if possible.

Too many recipes
Too many recipes read out. Suggest save them to the end or refer listener to a website to review them. Drove me mad - turned my brain off whilst read out and had to keep reversing as missed when the story re started
