About this listen
April and Beth have escaped, and their captor is dead. Freedom is in their grasp - if only they knew where they were.
With some memories returning, April and Beth struggle to find answers to their questions. What they know is that they’ve been vaccinated against a strange virus. But what happened to their family, and to the rest of the world?
As they head out, they stumble onto the compound where their nightmare began, but the empty building only brings more mystery into their lives. Soon, they encounter others wandering on the numerous trails throughout the woods. For April, finding her family is priority one; for Beth, it's sticking to the trails.
How can April ever convince her to leave the forest...and why are they being hunted?

Excellent 2nd book set in a near future gone awry
Continuing the story of our two young girls this second in the series is equally gripping as the first book. I found myself on the edge of my seat, willing the girls to survive, to figure out how to escape, to overcome their evil captor. It would not be fair to reveal too much of the story because the unfolding, "inch-by-inch", of the tale adds so much to the story. Suffice it to say it's excellently written, keeps you guessing, keeps you listening. The narration is great and the characters as they grow into themselves are believable and have you rooting for them throughout and cringing, saying "No! No! Watch out!!!" just like in the best suspense thriller movies.
Definitely an excellent sequel and I'm itching for the third book in the series!
I was given an free promo code for an honest review of this book - I loved it!

The story continues
Picking up where book one ends, the girls have escaped captivity and set off to find their family. They meet some interesting characters along the way and learn some things about themselves as more memories return. Much better, in my opinion, than book one. The narrator has a strong voice, although slightly flat in my opinion. The quality of the recording is good. I would recommend this story to people interested in the human aspect of struggling with life after a major epidemic.

loved this book. Cecil's mind is on the blink. a total mental that one. how far will he go you must find out for yourself. A pandemic, spread by mosquitos and mammals. during Corona it makes sense. the narration was splendid and her voice soothing. take a journey.
