Summary

An Astra Militarum novel.

Colonel Haskell 'Hell Fist' Aldalon and the Catachan 57th Jungle Fighters arrive on Gondwa VI, a world ravaged by greenskins. The Catachans prepare to go on the offensive, but can they retake a vital outpost when saddled with the barely-trained Trooper Torvin—the last survivor of the Skadi Second Infantry?

Listen to it because....

Get up close and personal with the ruthless Catachan Jungle Fighters as they prepare to give up everything in order to claim victory.

The story:

When Colonel Haskell 'Hell Fist' Aldalon and the Catachan 57th Jungle Fighters arrive on the quagmire world of Gondwa VI, they find it locked in the grip of an ever-growing greenskin threat. Rather than shoring up the meagre existing defences, the Catachans elect to go on the offensive and retake the strategically vital Outpost Four. In the process, they are saddled with the sole survivor of the outpost's fall—the barely trained Trooper Torvin, of the Skadi Second Infantry.

As the Astra Militarum clash with savage orks and Colonel Aldalon comes to terms with the cost of victory, Torvin finds himself under suspicion of cowardice by the Jungle Fighters. The young trooper's new comrades may be just as dangerous to him as the xenos marauders...unless, that is, he can pass through this trial by fire and earn the respect of the Catachan Devils.

this book was awesome. what more of this story line.

Chatachans have been one of my favorites for a long time.
they need more love with more books and new minis.
or at least a kill team so we get some new minis to paint.
probably going to listen to this book more than once.

Soft worlder

This is the 1st Astra Militarum book I’ve read and by the Emperor it is great.
The 57th is amazing and Torvin earned it.
Sneaky Gutz is sneaky and tactical.

Definitely worth a listen if you like Catachans!

Hard to stop listening, very funny in parts with some excellent voice acting - especially the orks! Hoping for a sequel.

Over too quickly

There is only one thing I love as much as Catachans and that's Ork Kommandos and in Catachan Devil we finally get to see them facing off.
Some of the Ork dialogue had me belly laughing it's so spot on.
The combination of Justin Woolley's writing and Joe Shire's narration makes for one of the best audiobooks ive listened to in a long while.

Turns out I love catachans

Guardsman Torvin finds out just how soft he is when fighting next to Colonel Alderon and his Catachan Jungle Fighters!

Bear with this book, it starts slowly but honestly gets so much better after hearing the Ork POV for the first time.
The author did a fantastic job with character progression, and their rendition of Orks in this novel is both charming and funny! I couldn't help but smile at the stupidity sometimes.

Solid narration by Mr. Shire, aside from the slow start I can't fault this one!
