About this listen

Fletch's trip to Brazil wasn't exactly planned. But it's Carnival time in Rio, and he has plenty of money, thanks to a little arrangement he made stateside. It took him no time to hook up with the luscious Laura Soares. Fletch is beginning to relax, just a little.

But between the American widow who seems to be following Fletch and the Brazilian widow who's fingered Fletch as her long-dead husband, he suddenly doesn't have much time to enjoy the present or even get a wink of sleep.

A 30-year-old unsolved murder, a more recent suicide, an inconvenient heart attack - somehow Fletch is connected to all of them, and one of those connections might just shorten his own life. From Rio to Bahia and back again at the height of Carnival, Fletch has to keep moving or get stopped cold.

slow

more like a magazine article on Brazilian Carnival than a thriller. It didn't really get going till chapter 29/37!

Saves a plane ticket

Whilst not my favorite story with Fletcher the sense of atmosphere created by the detailed writing and superb delivery made me feel as though I was back in Rio

Ah Fletch

This was not as good as other books before it, I think I will still read the series.

Good fun

The usual mix of local colour and complex plotting - all with a humorous touch.

The Least Enjoyable Fletch

I know I am being too harsh on a book written before I was born but boy was this a dread to read. I kept hoping for a pick me up, a new mystery I care for, something to bring the heart rate up but boy was this a task to read. I would put it on timer so I could sleep and the next time I wouldnt be bothered to rewind to where I last was awake. It was such a shame because I wanted to like it so much seeing as it was essentially the first one in S. America and the artist took his time to research and bring Brazil to our door. Perhaps that was the problem, the author was too busy being absorbed in culture he forgot to intrigue us.

An up hill slog

Gave up about an hour in.
This story annoyed me with the way the characters spoke to one another.
Kept trying to listen but eventually gave in.
Very slow and arduous.

Painful

This book is truly awful. I've read all the other Fletch books to this point but I just can't finish this.
