I wish I had been able to meet the man.

From the D.A.'s office in Denver to a small art gallery in Lake of the Ozarks might seem a long journey but it's one that Ellie Nelson doesn't regret. Then Alfred, one of her new friends who uses her studio facilities (and is a pretty amazing artist) is killed, soon followed by another death, and the arrival of the FBI , Interpol and some very unsavoury characters. And everyone, it seems, is looking for a stolen Van Gogh.

Canvass for Murder, is a fun, lighthearted romance and murder mystery, the second in the Ellie Nelson series but it is totally stand alone. The narrator is different from that of the first book, sadly, and whilst the new reader, Danielle Bryn, gives a reasonable rendering - her diction is fine, clear and with good intonation and there is individual definition with the voicing of several of the characters - the speed of her delivery is fast, without real expression, so that the result sounds as if she is on a speeded up playback. Unfortunately, slowing the speed to 0.75 doesn't help and her reading fails to add anything to the story.

Enjoyable and highly recommended to cozy mystery fans, but probably best read in print form.
