Summary
Eddie's on his way back from a routine investigation when his horse almost runs down a half-naked blonde in serious trouble. Against his better judgment, he promises to protect the frightened young woman, only to find himself waylaid by unknown assailants and left for dead beside her mutilated body.
Eddie's quest for payback leads him to a tangled mystery involving a notorious crime lord, a backwoods dragon cult, royal scandals, and a duplicitous femme fatale who has trouble keeping her clothes on. As the bodies pile up, Eddie must use all his wits if he hopes to survive.

Although the story is great and the narrator is just as good. The story took a little to get into. The twist was a pleasant one though

Sam Spade meets game of thrones
Very listenable and a unique idea. A medieval film noir. This gun for hire becomes this sword for hire. Very difficult plots and not predictable so far ( I’m up to book 4 now). Excellently read in a film noir narration style with believable characters. It passed the interest test as I carried the player from room to room rather than just leave it playing whilst I nipped to the kitchen etc.

Just a great listen.
The narrator does a nice job really brings the book to life. Just about to down load the next one. I recommend this writer if you want to listen to an a engaging story. Not completed no ridiculous plot twist just enjoyable.

Fun mix
Enjoyed the story except for one bit I can’t describe without spoiling the ending for others 🤪 This is the second in the series and characters are continued and the Eddie LaCrosse world is developing- entertaining reminiscent of the 1990s TV series Hercules with adult themes, looking forward to the next one The narrator is excellent and draws you in.
