About this listen
Jonah Steel is knee deep into trying to solve the mystery surrounding his family and his brother's abduction, and the arrival of his best friend has complicated the situation...although not as much as his infatuation with his brother's therapist, Dr. Melanie Carmichael. The quiet humility of the blond beauty has him enthralled, and he burns for her as he never has for any woman.
Melanie Carmichael is intelligent and driven, yet filled with regret. She has fallen in love with gorgeous Jonah Steel, but fears she may never be able to tell him. The demons from her past have come for her...and she may not get out alive.

Very sexually graphic.
Well, the continuing story of the Steel family. Very explicit throughout but you have to go with it to get to the end of the book. Looking forward to Surrender.

Languid and expressionless female narration
Good story but overly languid and expressionless female narration. Doesn't change tone or speed irrespective of content t circumstance.

As a book I loved it!
Any additional comments?
This book continues the Steel Brothers story. The series hasn't always the easiest to listen to, the subject matter is harrowing & challenging but very well done. These are the first Helen Hardt books I've listened to and I have thoroughly enjoyed them. They have been very different to most erotic books I've listened to and the story is very strong with a few cliffhangers along the way. Burn ends of a gigantic cliffhanger which I hated.......but only because I am very impatient and I want to know right NOW!
The only thing to let the book down a little is the narration. Jonah's POV is portrayed by Alexander Cendese and whilst his portrayal of Jonah himself is good his portrayal of the other characters is not good, Melanie's voice is dreadful. Teri Clark Linden portrays Melanie's POV, I've read negative comments about her portrayal and whilst I can understand some of them I do think it is believable.
I am thoroughly looking forward to the next instalment, due in May. After that the story continues with Ryan's story but I'm going to have to find some patience from somewhere as it's likely going to be about a year before this story concludes fully.

Enjoyable overall but ....
I’m really enjoying the story overall, the sex scenes are still interesting and the investigation side of the story has me hooked, I’m more interested in the story side than the saucy side at the moment, I just want to know more. Again the book ended on a cliffhanger so I’m glad I don’t have to wait for the next book to be released as I would find that very annoying.
But
Again I struggled with the narrators, the Male narrators female voice is too fast and rushed and I found that the female narrator was constantly saying Jo said, Talon said, Ryan asked, Jade said, Jo said etc it just seemed to go on and ended up being all I could focus on therefore effected my enjoyment of the book, I struggled to finish this one, I’m hoping I can get through the last one and that the last 3 books will be better, I didn’t have this issue when I listened to the first 3 books

Great story line shame about the male narration!!!
I'm reading this series in order, books 1-3 we're read and performed brilliantly. The narrator's voices were excellent even when speaking the part of the opposite sex characters. unfortunately the same can not be said for the narrator reading the character of Jonan (particularly when portraying any female voices) - to the point where it distracted me from the story line, lessening my overall enjoyment of the book. His reading is too fast and aggressive, the female parts were read in an awful over the top and very irritating way, trying too hard to sound female rather than just 'softer'. A huge shame as the story and characters are really good but spoilt by the male narrator. I'm hoping for better in book 7 if I can just manage to get to listen to the last book in this set.
