About this listen

Seven European tourists set off on the trip of a lifetime - a grand circle tour of the American West. They are unaware that a desperate journalist has hidden evidence in their van that could bring down a high-level criminal conspiracy. Nor do they know that they are being pursued by ruthless thugs determined to retrieve the proof at any cost, as the innocent visitors travel from one scenic stop to another.

The blistering heat, freezing cold, flash flooding, and a vast desert wilderness crammed with menacing wildlife are the least of their problems.

A comic mystery set amid the dangerous beauties of Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, Arches, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, and Zion.

Listen to Breakdown on Blowhard Mountain from USA Today, Audible, and five-time Wall Street Journal best-selling author Carolyn Jourdan, whose previous mystery Out on a Limb was voted a Best Kindle Book of the Year. Ludger Dominic Bracht, the coauthor, is an experienced guide and owner of Personal Scout Tours.

Well this was certainly different but strangely I really enjoyed it. I think it was because it was so different from the norm and so much happens that you can't help but listen to find out calamity was about to happen next. The story was well written and at points it felt like a travel book (you could easily picture the locations without having been there) but in some way that added to the story as mother nature set about to foil the bad guys, very funny and entertaining. The story does jump around to tell the story from the different characters perspectives but it works. I hope there is another book in the series, to cover the second part of the trip from hell.
A group of mostly Germans are on a trip of a life time traveling around America. Before they start there big adventure unknown to them a journalist hides something in there van, something a mob boss wants back. He sends his top two goons out into the wilderness to retrieve it before the F.B.I can get there hands on it. A nice simple job right? What could be easier than following a bunch of tourists that don't know you are following them up a snow covered mountain or across a desert to steal a camera bag, especially as you know what van they are driving and everyone of there intended destinations. Oh how wrong they are because with mother nature around nothing is simple. They would have done better staying in Las Vegas and playing the slot machines.
I liked the narrator and thought he did a good job with the number of accents he had to use.
