Summary
The original Born to Run ignited a global barefoot running movement, inspiring a generation to step outside and explore the world on our own two feet: Free from injuries. Free from stress. Free from overpriced shoes and gear and race fees. But how do we start?
Christopher McDougall and long-time coach and running wizard Eric Orton have answered with Born to Run 2: The Ultimate Training Guide, teaching every runner, new or experienced, how to master humankind's first true superpower and tap into hidden reserves of strength and stamina. With chapters dedicated to the Free Seven—Food, Fitness, Form, Focus, Footwear, Fun and Family—we learn exactly how to change our biomechanics, clean up our diets, heal our injuries, adapt to healthier footwear, and prepare for our dream challenge.
Packed with advice and inspiring stories from runners who have made the transition, it includes:
- A rock-solid food primer on optimum diet and power-packed On the Run recipes
- Techniques for running with dogs and baby buggies to help you run with the whole family
- 'Perfect Form' exercises that will overhaul your stride in less than ten minutes
- A 90-Day Run Free Programme designed to give everything you need to run faster, farther and forever.
Drawing on lessons learned from Mexico's legendary Rarámuri and decades of running research and experiences, Born to Run 2 truly is The Ultimate Training Guide.

Not as good as expected
Expected a lot from this book after reading the physical copy of the first book. The message the writer wants to bring attracts me and I definitely appreciate the effort. Too be honest I think the physical copy would be a lot better compared to the audiobook. The part that annoyed me the most about this is that there’s hours of ingredients/cooking instructions that the reader goes through (I ended up skipping some of it). Also the movement/strength/injury instructions and references to the training app are way too present imo. This would all be so much better explained with a simple picture in the pdf as done in the book.

Utterly brilliant!
I was originally put off purchasing this book due to reading some negative reviews and the fact that I loved the first Born to Run so much and didn’t want to be disappointed by the sequel . I really wish I hadn’t let myself be swayed. This book is truly wonderful. It’s an extremely engaging and seamless mix of story and technical information, and it’s beautifully narrated. I went on to purchase the book itself which is well worth it for the beautiful photography and it’s handy to have all the exercises, tables and recipes to hand, (although those are included in the PDF that comes with the audiobook.) I love the freshness the authors bring to the world of running and to date this is my very favourite book on the subject ..and I’ve probably read most of them ! I can’t recommend highly enough .

Interesting and useful
The book is a mix of practical training tips (drills, recipes etc.) and stories. It was interesting enough but sometimes seemed to go off on a tangent. There was a useful chapter on recognising, dealing with and preventing injuries. I haven’t looked at the downloadable PDF yet but the recipes are meant to be included in it and there is a link to watch videos of the training drills.

Dull
Style over substance. Not sure I will finish. I am thinking that there is not much to learn here.

Like that person at a party who doesn’t realise their boring stories are boring
Some nice bits of information in there, however a lot of poorly explained advice on low carb dieting that will likely lead to a bunch of yo yo dieters feeling disappointed. Also a bunch of anecdotes and inside stories that don’t seem to really add much to the core content . Avoid

doesn't really work as an audio book
You know when you really enjoy the original and then get to the sequel.....this is Jaws 2! it doesn't have the same bounce and inspiration as the original and feels like a rant in places. I think this would work better as physical copy. The narrator is also no where near as good as the original. If I had 5 stars to give between this and the original, they would all go to the first. Some good bits but not what I expected
