Summary

With over 100 movies to his credit over five decades, Hollywood legend and British national treasure Michael Caine shares the wisdom, stories, insight and skills for success in life that acting has taught him in his remarkable career.

One of our best-loved actors, Michael Caine has starred in everything from classic British films Alfie, Zulu and The Italian Job to the Hollywood blockbusting The Dark Knight trilogy and much-loved movie favourites Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Hannah and Her Sisters and The Quiet American. Caine has excelled in every kind of role - with a skill that's made it look easy.

Acting has taught him as much about life as it has his craft. He knows what success takes - not just luck but hard work and preparation. He also knows that it doesn't stop when you're successful. As he says, 'When you reach the top, that's when the climb begins'. Now he wants to share everything he knows.

Bringing brilliant new insight into his life and work and with his wonderful gift for story, this is Caine at his wise and entertaining best.

Exceeded high expectations

I saw this before Christmas and asked for the book as a present. It was a blessing that I didn’t receive it and ended up getting it on audible read by Michael Caine himself instead.
As well as great anecdotes, there is lots of wisdom for those not just in the creative professions but those of us wanting to embrace life in the middle part and get clear on what really matters; people.
I hope you enjoy as much as I did. The book gets even better towards the end and Michael Caine says the same about his life

Quality insight from a Top Quality Gent.

One of the main reasons I signed-up to Audible was to listen from those who write the books and who I admire. Whilst Michael has written this as an educational piece for budding actors, I have found this inspirational to my approach to my career - lots of tips, insights - but I love to hear the stories between the movies. Wishing Michael a continued career, he just gets better.

Gripping, moving, honest. A must read/listen

This book is an autobiography as much as it is a book that teaches you about life itself, narrated by a seemingly wonderful, kind, honest, friendly, loving and foremost very wise man. My respect and admiration for the man behind the actor has grown exponentially to the point that I now truly believe that he is perhaps even greater a man than he was/is an amazing actor. Truly exceptional Sir Caine!

brilliant

Thank you Michael for spending a few hours telling me about your life. it felt like an education. i feel such affection and optimism after sharing your story. I love the way your life unfolded and how you always look for the best in things. it is endearing to hear about your love and gratitude for your family and your philosophies on life and how you cope with loss and how you cannot change the past. It is surprising how very very hard you worked to perfect your craft. I did enjoy the name dropping and am really happy for you and wish you the best. this book was thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended. it seems even more personal when the author narrates their own book. it really feels like you are listening to them in a theatre or lecture hall.
