Summary
It was supposed to be business. Two families, one wedding, zero emotion.
My father’s mafia outfit had saved my life. I owed them everything. An arranged marriage was hardly a sacrifice when I would have already been long-dead, had it not been for them.
I would give up my independence for the Lucciano family. I would bind myself to the man whose family tore my life to pieces.
Matteo De Luca was vicious claws sheathed in refinement and class. He saw my untamed independence as a challenge. I saw his alluring authority as a threat. There was a ruthless storm that raged in his oceanic gaze. A majestic tidal wave of temper and domination looking to break on my rocky shores.
He would annihilate me. Rip open my layers until all my pretty secrets were scattered at his feet.
The worst part? I wanted to experience whatever it was Matteo had to offer, and I hated myself for it.
I wanted to launch myself at him. To kiss him. To kill him. To end the debilitating torture of the unknown.
The moment our paths collided, our lives were altered irrevocably. Taking us from enemies allied by a strategic marriage to something dark and consuming. Something that tasted like obsession.
Blood Always is book three in The Five Families series but can be listened to as a stand-alone.
Warning: There is a very small trigger warning on this one. If you are a highly sensitive listener, this one might not be for you.

Jo Raylan is a Queen
I recieved a complimentary copy of this on audiobook from the author and her team.
I have read a lot of mafia stories. Therefore I have read a lot of stories about arranged marriages. But it seems like only lately, with this and one other book, that I'm reading stories about made women as well as made men.
Usually (granted not always, but a lot of the time) female characters in mafia stories are weak and virginal and spineless. Not so on any front with Maria. She was a BAMF of her own making and I loved her character.
Matteo is your typical mafia hero. Alpha and secretive and strong. I really enjoyed how he was always chasing Maria and not the other way around.
This is my second Jill Ramsower book and I am already hungry for more.

Mafia perfection!
Book 3 of The Five Families series more than exceeded my expectations. I was so excited for Maria's story. It's not often you get a made woman in your mafia stories and she is one badass queen. Matteo is mob boss perfection. Powerful, demanding, and sexy as sin. Watching them clash and deny their attraction made for one hell of an explosive unification when it finally came. This was my favorite book of the series so far. Everything you need from a dark arranged marriage romance and then some. Narration was excellent. Jason Clarke never disappoints and Jo Raylan really brought Maria to life.

Mafia suspense at it's best!
Mafia romance is one of my favorites, and this series by Jill Ramsower has climbed to the top of my list! Each book is better than the last, letting us get to know the intricacies of the families and enjoy their stories. We get Maria's story now. Set up for an arranged marriage to Matteo, she is emotion free and in it for her family. Or is she? The chemistry is evident and Matteo is everything she fears he would be. These two have walls to break down, and stereotypes to refute. But the romance is not the only part of this story that had me engaged. The families are at war, and some of the reasons come to light. It's action packed and at times will make you cringe. Ramsower has a talent for romantic suspense that has me hooked on these families and I can't wait to see what she has in store next.
The choice of narration is spot on for this installment. Jo Raylan is one of my favorites and she nails Maria. She gives her attitude and strength, but that underlying vulnerability that lets us know she is human. She is a perfect match for this one. Jason Clarke falls into character as Matteo. He has the alpha male protectiveness and listening to his tough exterior can make you shiver. Then in the next breath, his tenderness is stunning. It's a fabulous performance by both.

Married to the Mob
This is book 3, and as good as book 1. A business arrangement between Maria and Matteo, develops into much more.
Beautifully narrated, well written, well crafted creating a tantalizing tempestuous tale. Jo Raylan inserts such tension and drama into her character.
If you enjoyed this book, you may like Killian by Natasha Knight or Wicked Beautiful by G T Geisinger (the whole series is excellent).

Best book in this series
Jill Ramsower has become an author I love and she did not disappoint with this novel. Blood Always is the 3rd book in The Five Families series and I loved it. This novel included arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, age gap and Mafia romance tropes all into one engrossing story. From the start I was hooked and could not put it down as the story was well-paced and flowed smoothly. The main characters were perfect together, I could not get enough of them and enjoyed their back and forth banter. Matteo and Maria had such chemistry and their every scene together was sizzling and intense. I loved that they were both two strong characters and I enjoyed going on this journey with these two and seeing their relationship blossom.
Blood Always was a gritty, emotional page-turner with just the right amount of action, suspense, violence, steam, swoon and some unexpected revelations. So far this is the best book in the series and I would highly recommend it to all mafia-romance lovers.
I listened to the audiobook version of this novel which was narrated by Jo Raylan and Jason Clarke. These two were were absolutely the best choices to narrate these characters. They embodied the characters perfectly, adding the right emotions as needed. Their voices were clear and understandable and they brought this story to life. It was a pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.

The Perfect Conclusion
The final book in the series and it couldn't have ended any better!
I loved Maria and couldn't believe how amazing her story was. Her life has been full of hardships and tribulations which only succeeded in making her stronger!
Matteo is all heart when it comes to love and family and it made me weak in the knees to see these two come together and try to learn how to trust and open up.
The two families are at odds and the fact that these two have a hard time putting aside their differences and getting along but the fact that they are going to be wed due to the arranged marriage, they don't have a choice but learn to be companionable if nothing else.
Maria was tough and unpredictable and I loved how she worked, I loved the way she was even if it took a hard as hell road to get there she still persevered through it all.
This book was full of unexpected surprises and the growth that was shown was fantastic!
The two narrators that did this story were perfect! I loved how tough and gravely Jo Raylan's voice was, it was perfect for how tough Maria was and you could hear the no nonsense attitude in her voice. And Jason Clarke was the perfect deep voice for Matteo with the hint of love shining through.

Awesome narration
When we (the reader) were introduced to Matteo in the earlier books in the series I had a feeling I was going to love him and now after reading/listening to his story I know I love him. He's a strong and powerful man that has an enormous capacity to love and in return be loved. He thrives on a challenge and Maria is that for him. She's the female version of himself - strong, powerful and extremely protective. The drama that followed the three sisters in the series was tied up in a neat bow in this book - I felt everything was answered so I walked away happy with the conclusion to the book. The narration was perfect both narrators bringing their characters to life.
