About this listen
This is her shot.
Brit has the chance to make history by being the first female goalie to play for an NHL team, the San Francisco Gold. So, when she is introduced to Stefan, the Gold's captain, she is determinedly not interested.
Stefan is sexy, charming, and has a publicly documented list of conquests a mile long. But Brit is unwilling to risk mixing business with pleasure, even when that business is wrapped up in a six-foot-plus, gorgeously muscled package. When management pushes Brit and Stefan together in an effort to gain good press for the beleaguered team, Brit finds that her carefully calculated disinterest doesn’t mask her body's desires. The more she falls for Stefan, the more she risks her career.
Will she be able to have it all - a starting position and the heart of the captain? Or will she lose everything?

Girl Power!!!
I was never interested in hockey until my Godson started to play. Now with an understanding of the game and some minor league games under my belt, I can truly appreciate a good hockey romance!! Elise Faber has crafted this first book in her Gold Hockey series to grab and keep you listening! Brit is new to the team, and as a female goalie has to prove herself. With grit and stamina, she is on her way to acceptance. Then management steps in and blackmails her into seducing the captain to get additional press for the team.Stefan is good looking, focused and guarded, but there is something about Brit that intrigues him. Will this couple get together? And at what cost? I really enjoyed this story. Not only does it give women a leg up in a men's sport, but it shows acceptance and teamwork. Stefan is an amazing character. Though reserved, he has good values, has his priorities in order and proves to be a good man. Brit is spunky, and courageous to take on her dream. I loved the couple, the supporting characters both good and evil and can't wait to hear Mike's story next!
Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas bring this story to life. I can hear Laurel's passion not only for the couple, but for the sport too! She finds Brit's strength and vulnerability, letting us feel all her emotions from her decisions. Salinas has a smooth voice and he is the perfect Stefan. He is strong, yet soft as we can hear the difference from the locker room to his mother's house. Together they create a fantastic story.

Impressive
Brit is an amazing goalie for a hockey team. She gets targeted for a hazing that turns violent. When she finally gets the courage to report the incident, it's handled by kicking her off the team. She finds herself on a better team, but the incident follows her. She's blackmailed into doing something that doesn't make her comfortable at all. I really enjoyed this story very much. It was inspiring. I'm not sure I could call myself a hockey fan. I'm enamored with reading about it. In both fiction and non-fiction. I just don't think I could actually watch a game. But I digress. It's hard not to get pulled into this story and want the best for all the good guys. Even if it can be a bit cheesy and predictable at times. Brit is this amazingly fierce woman She doesn't seem to realize it about herself, but it's true. She survived something that no woman should ever have to go through and kept going. She didn't let it hold her back. Yes, she lived with fear, but she faced those fears every day. Steffan was a pretty amazing person as well. He may be rough around the edges, but he means well. I'd of loved to see more of Brit's brother and Steffan's mom. They were both pretty amazing as well. The narrators were fantastic. I have listened to other books by Lacy Laurel, but I'm not sure if I've heard anything narrated by Gregory Salinas. Either way, both narrators were amazing. I can honestly say Lacy has become one of my favorite narrators. She just has this quirky tone that I adore. As for Gregory, I love his voice. I can't describe it without sounding like I'm insulting it. But it's just... alluring. If I were to have judged a book by it's cover, I wouldn't have picked this book up. Don't get me wrong. The cover is absolutely amazing. It just doesn't seem like it would be my type of book. Either way, I was curious so I read it. And trust me when I say, I'm glad I did. There were parts that I found very cheesy. There are some overplayed troupes in here as well. The book is still great. And honestly, troupes are a thing for a reason. They work.

Great book!!
I am a rabid hockey fan, so this story appealed to me on every level.
Stefan and Brit have chemistry, but they play on the same team. Stefan doesn’t know that the team leadership has blackmailed her into seducing him into a relationship.
There are many things going on in this story and it is very well written. Elise Faber does very well with the characters and the complexity of the story.
Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas do a wonderful job with the narration!!!

Sports Romance
Blocked by Elise Faber is a sports romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas.
This is the first book of Elise’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. You can’t help but fall in love with Brit and Stefan. I cannot wait to read more books from this series.
Lacy and Gregory did an amazing job on the narration. They are a great duo. I cannot wait to find more projects that they have worked on.

Good
The narration of the book was really great, it really does enhance the story and makesit better. While I have listen to Lacy Laurel before, and I love her performance a lot, it was myfirst time listening to Gregory Salinas, he has a great voice and his performance was great.
The storyline of the book was good and kept my attention throughout the book, it has some frustrating parts but it's all part ofc what makes this book good.

Stand alone if you skip the epilogue
This is the first book I've read by Elise Faber. I'd recommend it to contemporary sports romance fans. Just a warning, the epilogue is really just an intro to book 2. The main characters from Blocked don't even appear in the epilogue. When I started the next book I realized it's actually the first chapter of Backhand, so it should really just be included as a preview of book 2, not as an epilogue for book 1.
Hockey is my favorite sport, so when I saw the premise of a female pro hockey player I was excited to read it. I would have liked it even better if another player wasn't the romantic interest, but I did still like the story.
Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas did well with the narration. I always appreciate having a male/female team when the stories are in dual points of view, though normally the character voices match better between the two narrators (I mainly noticed with Stefan's dialogue). The narration was solid, but could have had more emotion/sound effects/conversational tone to make it come more alive.

Two people pushed together in some very hard situations and yet they are able to find their way through with a happy ever after. I loved this book and the preview of Backhand had us begging for more.

A Fan of Stefan ;)
Audiobook review. 3 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love hockey romances and was excited to listen to this story. I liked how mature Stefan was. He comported himself like the leader that he is and was responsible, honest, and kind. Brit was faced with a tough choice and I don’t blame her for her missteps. Both had a natural and easy connection. The secondary characters generated interest and were used effectively.
The plot was centered on the external conflict and I would’ve liked for some more time to be spent on developing the relationship. The pace was good until the climax and then went faster from there. Finally, the resolution/grand gesture... I don’t know if this will make sense to anyone but me but here it is: In my mind I understood that I should feel like the gesture was enough and grand. However, it felt a bit anticlimactic. I didn’t feel the typical satisfaction I’m used to when things are set to rights. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad story, I just feel like there were some missed opportunities.
The narrators, Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas, did a great job with their roles. Their performance, to include tone, pitch, pace, and inflections, was solid.
