Mara and Joey!
Mara has not had an easy life. She was in a car accident with her parents and her sister which left her the sole survivor but she had to adjust to a new life of being blind. With the support of her brother and close friends she is determined to remain independent and run the family business which is a flower shop.
Joey is a police detective in Seattle who has just found out his older brother, who is also the Eldridge town Sheriff, has been killed. He returns to his hometown for the funeral and runs into Mara, the girl he had feelings for when they were in high school.
The search for the truth about his brother’s death brings Mara and Joey closer but will they be able to find out what really happened and what happens when it is time for Joey to return to Seattle?
This is a romantic suspense about family and love that is set in a small town. Not only did I enjoy the characters of Mara and Joey but the secondary characters as well. I listened to the audible version of this book and thought the narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life. 🎧 AudiobookObsession🎧

Second Chance Done Right
This was my introduction to Lyz Kelley and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was nice to get the perspective of both Joey and Mara. The pace of the story was nice and even, flowed very well. Meghan Kelly's narration was spot on! What initially drew me to this story was 1. Meghan Kelly! 2. the synopsis was great and drew me in. The characters of Joey and Mara were great and worked very well together. Second chance romances are slowly becoming one of my favorite tropes and Lyz Kelley has done a spectacular job.

A great romance amidst an intriguing mystery
I have to admit to having a love, hate relationship with this book. It was an achingly sweet romance. There was so much emotion in this story that I really connected with. It brought tears to my eyes, made me laugh, made me cry and made me want to yell at the main characters for being thick headed. I really enjoyed the storyline. It was well written and engaging. I did struggle a bit with the narration. The narrator's style just didn't seem to fit with the style of the book. That's just my opinion though. Overall I throughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others!

Love is Blind?
I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic suspense featuring a great cast of characters and sympathetic narration by Meghan.
Fair warning, although their is a HEA ending, the overlying plot does not conclude in this book.

Sweet 😍
This was a sweet romance book. It was good and well written. I liked the mystery in this book it had me wondering who the murderer could be and thinking of why. It is not fast paced but it grabs your attention and makes you keep listening.
I liked Joey's detective skills he's really good at his job, as for Mara, I liked that she's strong and even after her accident she was able to adapt and move on.
This was my first time listening to Meghan Kelly and I really loved her narrattion. She has different voices for each character, her male voice is pretty good, the paced and cadence of her narrattion, and the way she portaryes what every character is feeling was great. And I'm looking forward listening more of her narrattions.

Love and Mystery
I love a good story with a good balance of romance and suspense. The characters were great and the narrator did a great job with both. I really loved the lead female character because I loved how strong she is but it's not in a pushy loud kind of way. The story was do good and ended cliffhanger so I can't wait to listen to the second book!!!

Beautifully Realistic
This was such a beautiful and wholesome story. It didn't gloss over how nasty people can be with people with disabilities. Struggling from some disabilities myself, I can appreciate that fact greatly. It gets old having people acting like people aren't judged and looked down on for having a disability. But I digress. The story was so beautiful. I enjoyed it so much. If I could have listened to it in one sitting, I would have. Darn having things to do!
I do have a small dislike with this, but I'm not sure how to hand it without giving spoilers. I'm a little disappointed that a part of the story was left unsolved. This is a series, but it seems like a standalone series. I'm hoping I'm wrong. I'm hoping there will be answers that I'm looking for. We shall see. Other than that, I had no problems with the book. I enjoyed it very much. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I may listen to them as well since the narrator was so great!

This was a definite 5 star listen!!
I so enjoyed listening to this! Liz Kelley wrote a good story, highly emotional for me! Mora, blinded from an accident that took the lives of her parents, is living her life but not to the fullest. Joey has recently lost his brother and is trying to figure out what happened and why! The have chemistry and it seems perfect....
I love mysteries as well as romances and this one hit both of those for me! I am anxious to see what happens next!
No spoilers from me, but I was deeply involved with this from the beginning and loved all of it! You need to listen to it!
Meghan Kelly did a wonderful job with the narration as well.

Elkridge, the place to be!
I can't believe this is Lyz Kelley's debut novel, it is just so good! I have been on a romantic suspense binge, and this satisfied every point I love about the genre. Joey comes home to his brother's funeral only to find his brother's death may not have been the accident he thought it was. With his skills as a detective, his father and the town commission him(without his consent!) to find the true answers, Coming back to his hometown, he gets the chance to see Mara, a girl he had a crush on in high school Due to a tragic accident, Mara has lost her sight....or has she? With her other heightened senses, Mara and Joey combine their talents and are on a mission for the truth. And if love kicks in, it can't hurt, right? Kelley has the perfect second chance romance combined with a thrilling murder case all wrapped up into one! It's fast paced, hot and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! Plus I fell in love with this small town, it's florist and community! I can't wait to hear book 2!
Meghan Kelly is amazing! She is able to bring this thriller to life. She adds suspense just with the inflections of her voice.I love her ability to make Joey annoyed in one breath and on the trail the next. She can voice a drunk old man, then turn and give us kids. Mara has attitude and strength, and we can hear it all. Kelly's performance is A+++!
