Summary
New York Times best seller
It’s time for a Black exit. Political activist and social media star Candace Owens addresses the many ways that Democrat Party policies hurt, rather than help, the African American community and why she and many others are turning right.
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.
Instead, Owens offers up a different ideology by issuing a challenge: It’s time for a major Black exodus. From dependency, from victimhood, from miseducation - and the Democrat Party, which perpetuates all three. Owens explains that government assistance is a double-edged sword, that the left dismisses the faith so important to the Black community, that Democrat permissiveness toward abortion disproportionately affects Black babies, that the #MeToo movement hurts Black men, and much more. Weaving in her personal story, which ushered her from a roach-infested low-income apartment to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, she demonstrates how she overcame her setbacks and challenges despite the cultural expectation that she should embrace a victim mentality.
Well-researched and intelligently argued, Blackout lays bare the myth that all Black people should vote Democrat - and shows why turning to the right will leave them happier, more successful, and more self-sufficient.

Sensational
This book, wonderfully and warmly narrated, offers a refreshing perspective on race relations in the United States and the Western world. I would consider this an essential read for anyone interested in the topic, whatever your views.

a well needed book.
To make a prediction, this book will become school literature in the future. This book will stand the test of time. Its historical and factual. It is a must read. Candice narratives it beautifully. I strongly recommend it. If you're active in online arguments and social debates, this book contains an arsenal of material. Ten out of Ten.

I learned so much from this book that I simply didn't know and hadn't come across. It has given me a totally new perspective on viewing the political situation in America today and through the recent history.

This woman should be President
She is, in my eyes up there with Martin Luther King. A strong hero, helping people to open eyes to what is going on in respect to black people in the West. I'm from the UK and this is as relevant here as it is in the USA.
A must listen/read.

Eye opening
This book is full of truth and facts. The history of the Democratic Party and black people in America needs to be consistently shared. I thoroughly enjoyed her breakdown into different areas and how it affects black America. As a black woman myself, I found it at times to be uncomfortable (as I looked into my own family history) but it was the absolute truth. I believe if people could actually listen to the truth our nation would be greater and accepting. Thanks Candace. I’m looking forward to the next book!

Excellent title, revelatory and inspiring vision.
Excellent title narrated by Owens and forward by the well respected Larry Elder. Charts the different areas of lack Americas problems with reasoning provided in its history, oppressive policies and subsequent cultures that been influenced by said aspects. Owens also gives a solutionary vision as to how to avoid further disadvantage. she speaks with conviction and impassion against the myths about double standards and infantilisation of the democratic policies and debunking the common myths about black America that we come to accept as holistic knowledge.
