Franklin's life has all the elements that establis

Franklin's life has all the elements that established America as an independent, important player on the world stage. The story is fully relevant today. For many, the American Dream remains just that, a dream. But Franklin's life is the template for that dream. His application of intelligence, humor, drive, curiosity and lust combined to establish this nation as independent.

In the story, you find that scorn is a powerful motivator and used properly can foster important change. Franklin created so much all while being human. Let's stopping trying to behave properly and get on applying some of Franklin's lessons, so that America remains relevant.

good one

Benjamin Franklin left behind letters, journals and notes that are heavily drawn on to present as realistic a life story as is possible. The author lets the reader come to his own conclusions

Fantastic

This is an impressive biography, beautifully listen and thoroughly researched. The reader is easily drawn into the roiling global politics that Franklin was at the center of, and gets a firsthand glimpse of it all.

The end of the book includes a really great sect

The end of the book includes a really great section where this author contextualizes legacy while summarizing the events of his life. That section allows this author to reflect and 'editorialize' more while the rest of the book takes a more objective historical stance. As with Job's biography, this author voice lends a tight narrative structure to a man's life could be presented in a more procedural and sterile fashion.

AN INFORMATIVE LISTEN

Everything about this bio is surprising. So much interesting information was revealed throughout the whole audiobook, it seemed like it lasted for more than 22 minutes because it covered the most important events and tragedies. Examples of his music are also heard. The narrator is one of the best I've heard.

History has a way of presenting a singular even

History has a way of presenting a singular event or person separate from what else is happening in the world at the same time. This book does just the opposite. You get a real feel for his time in history, the man, his life, how he interacts with the people in his life and as well as what is going on in the early years of America and Western Europe

The portrait of Benjamin Franklin's life was rem

The portrait of Benjamin Franklin's life was remarkably fair and balanced. There was no hero worship in this book, instead the author gave the facts of a very human and very flawed man. At points in the book I found myself strongly disliking Franklin. The way Franklin treats his family, and refuses any attempt at salvation for his son read as unforgivable sins for a man who is too egocentric to notice the people that needed him.

Fantastic

It has been argued that Americans are either natural born haters or lovers of Franklin. I suspect that both Isaacson and I are the latter, and this is a biography for those in that happy camp.

Excellent

It's the material that splits ordinary beings from deep thinkers, from Geniuses. I principally like that this product. The price bearing in mind the quantity and quality for this product is the key selling point and is really un-matchable with anything else out there.
