Kayla is a scavenger, driven to search the ruins of abandoned cities for artifacts in exchange for critical life-saving supplies. But, the rarest artifacts are found in the most dangerous ruins—those under control by the OmniLab traders.
Carl is one of those traders—and Kayla’s invaded his district. He’s determined to stop her and the best way to do that is to recruit her. The only problem?
Kayla hates traders.
When a powerful man intent on revenge starts hunting her, Kayla realizes the only way to save herself may be to accept Carl’s offer. But that would mean surrendering to OmniLab and giving up everything she knows.
Only everything isn’t quite what it seems.
Including OmniLab.
And Kayla’s in a lot of trouble.
Beneath the Fallen City is an exciting post-apocalyptic fantasy series with romantic elements and shocking twists. Join Kayla as she unearths the secrets of the past and discovers a hidden world no one thought was possible.

My Thoughts on Beneath the Fallen City
I found this to be a really good series starter. I liked the dystopian/alternate reality world in which there are not only haves and have nots, but some of the haves had secret powers and a whole lot of drama going on behind the scenes. That was one of the things I enjoyed so much about this book was that it turned out to be more than what I initially thought when I got started and kept me invested. I loved the main character Kayla and a lot of the secondary ones. I went back and forth at different moments on her romantic interests and by the end I knew where I was hoping it would go, and still hope it will end up, but I’ll have to keep listening and check out the next book in the series to see what we actually get.
The narration was good. It was a new to me narrator and I thought she did a good job with so many voices of keeping things from feeling boring.

Beneath the Fallen City
This book started slow for me and I wasn't sure that I would really get into it. I've read this author before and her other series hooked me a lot faster than this one did but as I read more the more I want to know about this work and these characters. I will be continuing this series.

Wonderfully Intriguing! Great Story & Narration🎧
This is an amazing start to the “Omni Towers” series, a fascinating story that is completely engaging, so much so that once I started, I did not want to stop because I needed to know what happened next. There is a reason this is an award-winning novel, well multiple reasons, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Kayla, the lead female character, is the picture of a heroine, she is brilliant and I admired her tenacity, braveness and rooted her the entire time. It is a post apocalyptic world, and the earth is in ruins and there is already a tier system with Kayla on the bottom, a scavenger hunter, a ruin rat and one of the best there is. She went head to head with an OmniLab trader, Ramiro, who controls the ruins and what is removed from their assigned district. Another trader, Carl, who sees her talent offers her a job, and not being a fan of traders she plans on declining, but when Ramiro puts a target on her head, it is in her best interest to join Carl and his team, it will give her the much needed protection. Amenities are a little better for the traders and Kayla gets to experience more, but then things take a turn when her true identity gets revealed and they take her to the Omni Tower. There is never a dull moment in this book and the story has it all: drama, angst, twists and turns, action, heartfelt emotions and a side of romance. Jamie A. Waters, thank you for this wonderfully intriguing story, escapism at its finest.
🎧📚🎧 Paige Reisenfeld did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who she was portraying. She covered the roles for all the characters, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell how is who. She was a natural as Kayla, fierce and feisty, not afraid to back down and she was just as amazing in the male roles, including Carl and her sidekick, Veridian, as well as all the characters who follow. Reisenfeld sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and has you feeling them all. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this amazing listen.
