About this listen
Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months - ever since I caught my can’t-be-soon-enough-ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I’m 35 years old, and I’ve lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity.
But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who’s ever gotten me.
Even after death, though, she’s helping me get back up again. She’s willed me the keys to a house in the burbs of all places and dared me to grab life by the family jewels. Well, I’ve got the vise grips already in hand (my ex should take note), and I’m ready to fight for my life again.
Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.
There are 47 separate HOA violations, and I feel them all in my bones. Honestly, I’m surprised no one’s “accidentally” torched the house yet. I want to, and I’ve only been standing in front of it for five minutes. But then, my grumpy neighbor tells me to mow the lawn first and I’m just...done. Done with men too sexy for their own good and done with anyone telling me what to do.
First rule of surviving the burbs? There is nothing that YouTube and a glass of wine can’t conquer. Well, unless it’s your hot neighbor.

My new favorite
This is such a good book and every minute of it I was captivated. I could relate well to the main character and following her evolve was so cathartic and frustrating (as I would probably do the same). if your looking fot a story that had it all - love, laughs, tears, joy, sorrow, heartache. well then look no further.
The narrator did an amazing job and I look forward to more books in this series with (hopefully) the same narrator.

It was okay...
Another story where the female character feels her problems are more important than the man's. Also, who decides someone is the same type of person as her ex husband just because he has the same job? I'm glad about the end, but she was exhausting.

Great story, well read
Loved the reading. The narrator’s voice is so important and this is an excellent example of how it should be done.
Really enjoyed the story, thought it sped up a bit too fast at the end though.

uplifting second chance romance
This was an uplifting second chance romance. She is living at her parents after leaving her cheating husband and has no job nor money until she inherits her late aunt rundown house. obviously there is a hot and grumpy neighbour, and there is also lots of funny scenes with family drama etc. This isn't really spicy, infact it's just a tiny bit more than fade to black.
it was great to see Mallory build her selfsteem back up and take hold of her life, becoming herself again with confidence. Her story was adctive and she was super relatable and likable.
Great narration.
included on plus catalogue until end of December 2024.

This was a great listen 3🌟🌟🌟
I really enjoyed this listen, it was funny, believable & fiesty. It is about finding strength when you need it, family relationships and finding the one in chaos when you aren't looking, sometimes timing is everything!
This was a free listen in the Plus catalogue but it was a great listen and I totally recommend it.
