في جوٍّ من الخيال والفنتازيا تحكي هذه الرواية العجيبة قصّة ف تاريخية تدور في عهد الأسرة 11 الفرعونية، تتناول نفوذ كهنة معبد "آمون" في تلك الفترة من خلال قصة حب (سنحوت) و(ماني) وما يتعرضان له على يد كاهن بلدهم الجشع، ذلك العاهر الذي يقدسه الناس عن جهل أو عن عقول مغيبة أو عن خوف فهو المتحدّث باسم الإله وهو الذي يملك أقدارهم في النهاية.

تبدأ أحداث القصّة عندما يختار الكاهن الفتاة الجميلة "ماني" لتكون قربانًا للإله مع أنَّ المواصفات لا تنطبق عليها تمامًا فتقرّر الهرب والثورة ويساعدها في ذلك حبيبها "سنحوت" لكنَّ الظروف ربّما ستكون اقوى منهما لذا سنتوقف معهم في النهاية ونفكّر هل في الهروب من كل هذا نجاتهم حقًا؟!.. هل المواجهة حل أمثل؟!.. ماذا سيخسران في الهروب أو يكسبان من المواجهة؟!!
