Summary

Attribution is a fictional novella that brings awareness to social injustice, cybersecurity, family breakdown, and autism by detailing 40 weeks in the life of a 14-year-old ninth grader from Atlanta, Georgia. He went from being a "straight A" student and winning a hackathon to experiencing parental separation, expulsion from school, ending up as a national security threat, and surviving a drone attack in a remote location in Montana.

A good read

I enjoyed listening to it. The book has an easy flow, it is relatable highlighting cyber security issues without being too technical. It also highlights some coping mechanisms around impact of family separation and autism on a young person

Important lessons for parents and teens

I appreciate Attribution for its fascinating explanation to help young people stumbling into the infinite world of cyberspace understand that there are consequences for using their knowledge illegally and also to parents that a laptop in the hands of a highly imaginative mind, particularly a teen is like a loaded gun with high potential for good and evil so parents have an important role to play in ensuring the internet is safe for young people. I recommend this book to teens who are interested in the cyber world and to all parents.
