About this listen

It is said the Phoenix Lords arrive on the eve of great moments....

Guided by fate, Asurmen the Hand of Asuryan comes to the craftworld of Ulthwé. At the behest of the head of the seer council, he joins the warriors of Ulthwé and the young seer Eldrad on a quest to the Crone Worlds in search of the oracle Hiron-athela.

It is believed that this being holds an artefact that could safeguard Ulthwé's future, but in order to obtain it the eldar must travel a dark road....

Excellent audiobook!

Despite being on the shorter side I think this is well worth the price or even a credit. It is not only a very engaging story, the production of the audiobook as well as the voice acting is top notch!

Great short story

Loved the sound effects, perfect to listen to whilst painting. Really gets you indulged into the Eldar storyline and way of life. Would recommend listening with headphones on.

loved it

this is a really well written short story, brilliantly produced as an audio drama, with gripping tension and quality. definitely listen if you're a fan of the eldar, or if your investigating the xenos of Warhammer 40k!

Terrible

This story is very short and that’s it’s about as good as it gets. A cast of voice actors painful over act. The plot is boring, the writing basic. If you want to immerse yourself in WH40k lore, go for it. If you want a good read, avoid.

Poor writing, weird audio choices

Gav Thorpe comfortably retaining his crown as the king of basic. Basic story, basic characters, basic scene setting.

I’d have really enjoyed finding out more about this character but you get nothing.

Also, it’s a short story which makes the fact I actually bought it (in spite off the fact that my instincts told me I shouldn’t) even more galling.

Nail in the coffin was this weird sound effect for any character speaking who was wearing a helmet, really distracting and out of place.

Awful. I’ll remind myself how bad this was if I’m ever tempted to get anything written by him again.

Not a fan of production

The story was ok. it's a typical Warhammer 40k short story.

I wasn't a fan of the production despite a good cast. action music during the fight was over the top and suppressed the dialog. Asurmen's voice was had to follow sometimes, again a production choice.

I couldn't understand the audio.

Due to the sci-fi effects over production of this title, I could barely make out what the main characters were saying. It sounded like a load of drunken daleks in a lift. This is a production not a narration. I listen primarily whilst driving and couldn't make it out. Might be better through good quality headphones. Have read the book now and its a good story. Shame about the audio.
