David Walliams
About this listen
From million-copy bestselling author David Walliams comes a laugh-out-loud animal space adventure.
Chump the chimpanzee was always being silly. He would:
- make rude noises from BOTH ENDS…
- pick his nose with his little toe…
- eat the skins of bananas, hurling out the tasty part inside.
NASA’s scientists thought he’d be the PERFECT chimp to send into space. Little did Chump know that he had been selected for a deadly-dangerous mission. If a chimp could orbit Earth, then chances were a human could too.
With Chump the chimp at the controls of a spacecraft, what could possibly go wrong? As it turned out, EVERYTHING.
Blast off with Chump, and encounter dog space pirates, evil insects, and the silliest chimpanzee who ever lived in this wildly funny space opera.

A new David walliams book with animals in space
It has a chimpanzee in space. All of the characters in Astro chimp were based on the real animals who were blasted into space. Fruit flies were first creatures to be sent into space in 1947. No one thinks any animal can survive in space. These fruit flies said they can. In 1949, they sent a monkey named Albert. He was the second animal in space, sadly, he died when the rocket door failed to open on earth. :( In 1957, Russia sent a stray dog named laika to orbit the earth. She was extremely brave. In Russia, there is statue of lakia. In 1959, they sent a squirrel monkey named miss baker and she returned safely to earth. In 1961, they sent a chimpanzee named ham and he returned safely to earth and became a hero. :D France actually sent a cat into space! In 1963, a cat was on space and she safely returned to earth. In 1967, they Sent a rat named Bella and she returned to earth. Russia sent to tortoises in 1968. They were the first creatures to blasted in deep space and circle the moon. Two garden spiders named Rita and Annabelle were sent into space in 1973. They followed people in space and if you think gerbils were never blasted into space, they were! In 2007, there mission was to see if humans can survive a trip to mars. Then were might see gerbils living on mars, Actually this is a great idea for a story.

Astro Chimp
This is an amazing book which was read along with the audible version. The audible version brought the book alive with not only David Walliams reading the book himself, but all the realistic sound affects and different characters. My 8yr old daughter and I were hooked. Highly recommend for those who love comic books such as Dog Man etc

The animals in the story
I looked it. It was the best book I’ve had on
Here, probably it was just the best book in the world. I didn’t. I didn’t dislike any of it.
