About this listen

The Earth died when aliens rained thermonuclear warheads on her cities and sprayed the surface with a bio-terminator. A deadly poison drifted to every corner of the planet, threatening the last survivors with annihilation.

For a soldier in Antarctica like Creed, there is only one way to keep breathing untainted air. He must bury his hatred of the extraterrestrials and join the Jelk Corporation as an assault trooper, leaving the planet for outer space. In return for his and other people's services, the corporation will house the last humans for as long as the assault troopers keep winning.

For the price of living and the chance to save humanity, Creed has to wear a shock chip in his neck - Jelk discipline is harsh - and he has to don a symbiotic battlesuit that feeds off his sweat. Human life is cheap in the vast alien war. The assault troopers are little more than suicide soldiers, but for humanity to escape extinction, they must survive. But Creed didn't agree to the bargain in order to remain a dog to the aliens. He has a plan, and he'll need all his cunning to beat these star born bastards and begin the road to freedom for the human race.

Assault Troopers is a tale of human extinction and ultimate desperation, written by bestselling author Vaughn Heppner.

Terrific Space Series

The Extinction Wars series dominated by the imminent removal of humanity from the universe is an easy to relate storyline. It is the credibility of the storyline that captures the imagination and moves the reader into the perspective of the main characters. Anyone who enjoys space battles and aliens full of intrigue should thoroughly enjoy Assault Troopers.

interesting sy fy premise

narrator shouts a lot when telling the story, it's a bit boys own and in places stereotypical macho but that's ok as it's a survival story I guess? the audio version lacks polish and end and start of some chapters repeat unecessarily., hopefully this will be rectified in future edits?

Too Young

This is, in my opinion, a series for a much younger novice to cut his teeth on.

The narration seemed to be over-emphasising.

The plot perhaps something you would get a boys' own magazine.

Why so angry

Would you try another book written by Vaughn Heppner or narrated by Christian Rummel?

Yes and yes, but only because of the Audible app I use.
I found the narration to dis-jointed, the gaps between sentences was to long, it got very annoying. That coupled with Mr Rummels very very angry narration, and I almost returned the book.
But, the Audible app allows you to run a variable speeds, I found if I ran it at 1.25x speed then it actually became enjoyable. It cut the long gaps out, and also toned down the narrators deep angry voice.

Who was your favorite character and why?

No overall favourite.

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Christian Rummel?

Mark Boyett, ofc

If this book were a film would you go see it?

I would wait for the DVD

Any additional comments?

Don't forget to try the variable speed

It is 💩💩💩

With a narrator to match. Wonder if this review gets posted.
Really bad writing, again bombastic and moronic is the only way to describe it.
The lack of experience and tallent is breathing. The fact that he, the author, thinks he has them is even worse.
