About this listen
One deep breath. Two slow blinks. Three hollow beats. I’m still here. After three years, that reminder isn’t as necessary. But everyone has their bad days. This is definitely one of them. Until an adorable little boy dashes into my store. His zest for life makes me smile in a way that’s been long lost. Then I meet his father. Well, confront is more like it.
Brance Stone is volatile. Offensive. Harsh. And can’t be bothered to care. Not that I want him to. I get frostbite just looking into Brance’s glacial stare. But there’s something undeniable about him.
My misery suddenly craves company. The suffocating numbness lifts whenever Brance is near. That alone should have me running in the opposite direction. Try as I might, there’s no avoiding him. If only I could understand why. As if he’d let me.
I don’t ask. He doesn’t tell. A silent, bitter truce settles between us. That was our first mistake. It’s certainly not the last.
An Amazon top 10 best seller.

"Ask Me Why is a gorgeously-written, angsty book that packs a great punch to your gut. If you like a jerk with a heart of gold, this is the book for you. Oh, and I dare you not to fall in love with little Ollie!" (LJ Shen, USA Today best-selling author)

I loved this!!
Wow I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. I loved the characters even though Brance was a Jackwagon. I wish Bralyn would not have let Brance take control as much as she did at first. Ollie was awesome! The narration was awesome!! I will be putting this on my re-listen list. I definitely recommend this book.

Ask
Loved the dual narration of Heather Costa, Jeffrey Kafer
Braelyn is in emotional pain and depressed, since a tragic accident several years before. Her store is her haven until one day it is invaded by this little boy and his dad . Brance, is an abrasive, rude and treats romantic attachments to women with utter contempt.
Well that is until he meet Braelyn.

Ask Me Why?
I listen to Ask Me Why after having it on my tbr for a while now but I got to say it was a disappointment. I like the narration, they did a good job bringing the characters to life. However the story was just not that good. My favourite character was the little boy he was super cute and sweet, and he is the reason I kept listening. However his dad Brance was a big NO for me. Why a woman would want to put up with this jerk is beyond me. But then again Braelyn was barely hanging on, and wasn't ready for a relationship.

Loved this
This is the second book I have read/listened to by this author and I loved it my heart from for Bralyn and the tragedy she had survived. I really did not like Brance but i loved how we got to see why he was like he was and the love he has for his son.
I loved the narrators they brought Bralyn and Brance to life.
I would highly recommend this,

What a fantastic listen
This was a really interesting book and I really enjoyed the characters that were created. Definitely my favourite was Ollie but all were characters that I loved. I’ve always loved Harloe’s books and this one is definitely one of her best.

Not a dull moment.
When life experiences leave you damaged and reeling, you can be filled with fear, unable to trust in people and yourself.
Brance and Braelyn had their share of painful life lessons and finding their way back was not easy for them.
Braelyn had her best friend supporting her all the way, along with regular therapy sessions.
Brance seem to have had a terrible example of a mother and little support. I am not excusing his behaviour but I understand why he is so obnoxious to Braelyn. Thank goodness for his sweetheart of a son, he is so adorable.
I have to give credit to Brance for raising him so well. Therefore, I had faith he would find a way to tap into the beautiful part of him that he gives only to his son so It would help him to embrace love without fear.
Brance found his way and the most beautiful thing came from his mouth.
"You are my sunlight and rainbows after a life of storms, don't leave me in the dark"
Everyone is redeemable if they want to. A beautiful story with engaging characters and emotional and entertaining storyline. Love the narration.

Not for me
***Some spoilers***
Although this is well narrated I didn't like this book at all. Brance the male love interest is a Class A 4sshole, very unlikable in fact I hated him. Everything he said/did was highly offensive, horrible, spiteful, he hates women and most of his vile murmuring's are directed at female love interest Braelyn. He continued to do this despite knowing she is suffering from severe PTSD from a car crash which resulted in her partner dying and her surviving with injuries. Even when he physically sees her suffering from a panic attack, he couldn't give two sh!ts and just directs more insults her way. He's also nasty to the staff in his office and tried to seek revenge on the person/people who made complaints about his horrible behaviour in the office.
I didn't think the author conveyed an emotional love connection between them and barely conveyed lust other than describing sex scenes. I didn't get a sense at any point that they had fallen in love, only that Braelyn had fallen in love with Brance's son. The son was too super sweet, he talked and acted more like a Disney character. Realistically he would have been negatively effected by his father's narcissistic behaviour and would have told his father off/defended Braelyn/got upset etc, but he was unconditionally bouncy & happy.
The story itself is very flimsy, nothing interesting really happens and the plot is very predictable with a happy ending, which didn't make sense to me. Their relationship is verbally volatile rather than being back and forth playful or challenging banter, which is what I think the author tried to portray. Braelyn comes across as a doormat because she just takes all the abuse. For ex, Brance says some really nasty things to her then soon after asks her to babysit his son without payment or any real gratitude. Anyone else would have told him where to go but Braelyn just did whatever he told her to do and came across as a wet blanket. I ended up disliking both the love interests, the whole book just seems very unrealistic and overly long.
I was given this book for free of my own choosing and voluntarily left this review.
