Summary
Captain Tom Barnes is leading British troops in a war zone. On all sides of this conflict, people are about to be caught up in the violence....
We see the characters not as they see themselves but as all the objects surrounding them do: shoes and boots, a helmet, a drone, a bag of fertilizer, a medal, a beer glass, dog tags, an exploding IED and the medical implements that are subsequently employed.Critic reviews

Great, But a couple too many prespectives.
I love how experimental Parker's writing and POV was. but some could have been cut. better editing and trusting your reader would have strenghted the story. Voice preformance was fantastic.

Amazing book, don't think about it just get it!
Is a very involving book that keeps you enthralled and makes you not want to miss a beat.
There are a few twists to the story because of the way it's written and the non linear structure and that's all for the good.

A cleverly woven narrative set in a modern war. Gruesome, sad, powerful. Well narrated and written.

Incredible narration
Using inanimate objects to describe events, thoughts and emotions makes the narration even more poignant. Inspiring, eye opening, insightful, refreshing, incredible.

Amazing
Such a moving book. The way it's written as objects around BA5799 is cleverly done.

said, said, said said god but I'm so bored I could just yawn
I suppose it's all right if you like your stories told in a series of objects but frankly I made it to chapter 5 and got bored. Said, said, said all the way through virtually and though there is some tension it really is so tedious it nearly sent me to sleep. i was hoping for something better. At least the naration isn't too bad. What more can i say? not much really.

Reading group
Listened to this for a book club and was amazed at just how brilliant the storyline was.
Different from anything I usually read or listen to but completely addictive.
