Suzanne Toren captures the politics and opinions of this seminal thinker like a powerful orator at a podium. Her bold and impeccable delivery is a fitting match for the substance of Anarchism and Other Essays, an accessible book that was clearly ahead of its time. The performance opens with an illuminating biographical sketch of Goldman and then proceeds to express Goldman's opinions on everything from imprisonment to prostitution.

A good overview of Emma Goldman's beliefs.
Would you consider the audio edition of Anarchism and Other Essays to be better than the print version?
There is considerable emotion and simmering anger in the narration, which there should be.
Would you recommend Anarchism and Other Essays to your friends? Why or why not?
If, like I, you seek to learn something about an oft misunderstood person and philosophy (Anarchism) then this book will give you some concept and right some misunderstandings.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Sometimes it got a bit monotonous and with the benefit of hindsight we can see all the flaws in Goldman's beliefs but it was a good reading.

A compelling read
The book draws you into Goldman's world as she sees it, and it is difficult to be objective when her account of the historical injustices she witnesses are so vividly described as to pique our interests. However, much of this is achieved through Goldman's words, rather than the narration of Suzanne Toren who nevertheless succeedes portraying Goldman's anger and distress yet falls flat in her tone often.
however this is ultimately a neccessary read for anyone who feels compelled to explore such social issues as those described in this book

So much still resonates today!
Really good to hear the words of female activist. The language around women is of its time, but still disappointing. The essays contextualise anarchist activism of the time.
