Loved the style of writing
I really enjoyed the use of language by this author (Although it astonishes me that an ‘academic’ would repeatedly use the grammatically incorrect ‘I was sat’ as oppose to ‘I was sitting’ or ‘I sat’!)
I also loved the narrator and could listen to him all day!
Good story line and well constructed, will read more

Intelligent and enjoyable listen
Really enjoyed this book. Coverups happen all the time and it is a reminder that evil wins when good men don’t stand up and speak the truth. I enjoyed the searching insight into grief and the effect it has on relationships. Excellent

Stunning, sad
I wept like a baby at the end of this beautifully narrated story. The sadness was tangible.
The most moving, difficult listen ever, but so rewarding.
I couldn’t wait to embrace my grandchildren and hold them close.

Fabulous!
Thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. Loved the beautiful English used. And narrator Chris Reilly - possibly the best voice I have listened to so far. I find only 1 book (this one) by Guy Mankowski. Need more …….

ok..but author said 10 words for only 1 needed!!
OK story..but made it very hard to listen to as I felt the author over described EVERYTHING... made it feel like he had swallowed a dictionary!!

Utterly frustrating
This is a sad story - well narrated but the school related elements are utter nonsense. Yes there are corrupt leaders and most certainly corrupt practices especially in academies but you couldn’t haul a teacher up against a regulatory body for admin errors or not taking breaks. He’d also have been suspended on full pay. So ridiculous - you want to scream at the book which spoiled it. The story could have been told without such ridiculous elements.

New author to me?
This was terribly sad, however thoroughly enjoyed this story. Well narrated. Hopefully, unbelievable fingers crossed.
