Summary
Rylan Keller is dreading the start of spring semester. After choosing a college across the country and spending the past fall abroad, she’ll be a Holt University student. Worse than starting over at a new school? Starting over at a new school where your dad is the head coach of the men’s hockey team. And reluctantly agreeing to tutor a player, then coming face-to-face with the guy you thought you’d never see again.
Aidan Phillips has a reputation on campus. One he’s carefully curated to include limited reliability or responsibility. Outside of hockey, he spends his free time drinking, partying, and flirting. Often all three.
He’s a player off the ice as well as on it. Gorgeous, carefree, reckless. His one goal is to finally win Holt a championship, which he can only do if he keeps up his end of the tutoring arrangement. Hooking up with his tutor would be stupider than failing in the first place, even if the tutor in question wasn’t his coach’s daughter.
Rylan is determined to excel at Holt and make her fresh start a success. To finally have some fun, and not with a hockey player. Except, the more time they spend together, the harder it is to hold back.
But no matter how tempting giving in might be…the odds are stacked against them.

Narration dream team!!
Against All Odds
Audiobook review: Narrated by Connor Crais and Erin Mallon
Hockey Romance
Second Chance (previous ONS)
Coach’s Daughter / Tutor
Reformed Player
Secret Relationship
This book was amazing on so many levels. These characters were so easy to root for and the banter between these two was thoroughly entertaining. I enjoyed the surprise of their unexpected reunion and the dynamic between the two was balanced and fun to read. I was also impressed with the hockey aspect of the story and that our MMC wasn’t destined for the NHL had me just as invested in the sports storyline as the romantic one. Great timing and pacing had me listening almost non-stop.
As good as this story is, adding Connor Crais and Erin Mallon as narrators just skyrocketed it for me as far as likability. I couldn’t have picked a better voice for Aiden. He is just a pleasure to have in my ears for long periods of time. As far as Erin Mallon, she can do not wrong as far as I’m concerned. The skill she has in differentiating characters is masterful. Her masculine character interpretation is genius and I forgot I wasn’t listening to a duet style narration when she was in charge.

College hockey romance with all the swoon & spice!
I flew through the audiobook edition of Against All Odds by CW Farnsworth, and performed by Erin Mallon & Connor Crais! If you like a steamy, college hockey romance, with a forbidden coach’s daughter trope… you’ll love this.
The story was performed fantastically by Erin & Connor! Their performance range and ability to keep you entertained with each chapter is spot on.
This was my first book by CW Farnsworth, and there will be more! Against All Odds has a great storyline, a superb amount of spice, and was super well paced, keeping my attention the whole way through.
Against All Odds is book 2 of the Holt Hockey series, and followed Aiden & Rylan. They had a steamy hot tub meet cute on vacation, then end up at the same college, with many unavoidable links to each other. The banter and text messages were hilarious and the stolen kisses… and more, built up the perfect amount of tension. I will definitely be continuing with the series.

Sweet College Hockey Romance!
This is the second book in the Holt Hockey series, a college hockey romance. Rylan and Aidan's slow burn and forbidden romance is sweet, emotional, passionate, funny, and engaging, filled with family drama, and romance. They are perfect together. The supporting characters are interesting. Connor Crais and Erin Mallon did an outstanding job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to more in the series.

Not for me
This was kind of a miss for me. I typically love C.W. Farnsworth but this one felt really forced.
Rylan and Aidan really didn’t give me the instaswoon they spoke so much of in the book. As far as characters they really didn’t develop too much either. Rylan, nearly virginal has slept with 2 guys her entire life while the guy shes attracted to had pretty much slept with anything that moves. There is some sort of weird cadence with romance books where authors feel this dynamic is settling and its not.
There was a lot going on in this book but at the same time not much of anything. It was hard to make the story stick with so many microtropes. I felt this story should have stuck with one or two and really dug into the characters.
There were kind of a few other things that were off, the geography and knowledge of where schools are located was a little off putting. Everything just felt very predictable.
The only thing that kept me going through this book was the audio. Erin Mallon and Connor Crais did everything they could to make this book enjoyable.

This book has all the tropes 💜
I really enjoyed this book. I love the tutor/student trope at the moment, and coaches daughter is usually 🤌.
Rylan and Aiden were super cute together. I think their relationship progressed really well and naturally. This book had lots going on but was low drama, which made me enjoy the book even more.
The narrators were so good. They brought the characters to life amazingly and made Aiden and Rylans story even better

No cheating or unnecessary angst
When Rylan Keller had a steamy one-night stand with a random guy she’d met in Vail, the last thing she ever expected was to ever see him again and especially not as a fellow student at the university she’s just transferred to. To make matters worse Aiden Phillips was one of the players on the ice hockey team her father coached, and he’s just volunteered her services in tutoring his failing player before he’s benched.
I couldn’t help but feel a twinge for Aiden who was a bit of a lost character. On the surface he’s the perpetual party animal who doesn’t take anything seriously. In the years he’s been at school he’s never seen the same girl twice let alone been in a relationship and as the story progresses you find out a lot of his actions are down to his family. Appearances are the only thing that seem to matter to them, and, in their eyes, he’ll never measure up to his older brother no matter what he does so he doesn’t bother to really try at anything except hockey which is the only thing that has any meaning for him. Rylan has a better relationship with her family, but she feels she’s let them down with the choices she’s made in the past and now she’s determined to be the best student she can be in an attempt to make them proud, not realising they already are. Her last relationship ended badly when her boyfriend cheated so she’s a bit hesitant to trust especially someone with a reputation like Aiden. The chemistry between them sizzled from the start but both were hesitant to take that first step. This was a great story with no cheating or unnecessary angst as Rylan and Aiden went from friends to lovers. Perhaps I would’ve liked the epilogue to be set a little further into the future, but I still enjoyed this book.
Connor Crais was great as Aiden and easily imbued all of his doubts over his future into his performance while, for me Erin Mallon is one of those narrators who can seamlessly switch between voicing male/female characters something that enhances listeners enjoyment of an audiobook. Together they did a fabulous job with the narration of Against All Odds.

Against All Odds.....Is Addictive!
It's been a minute since I read or listened to a college based romance, so listening to this one by the talented 𝙲.𝚆. 𝙵𝚊𝚛𝚗𝚜𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚑 was a refreshing time. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and seeing the story develop.
I loved following Aiden & Rylan's story. They were so fun together. It was a touch forbidden since Rylan is the coach's daughter, but when Aiden needs some help, Rylan is the woman for the task. The chemistry that follows them through there story is 🥵! The banter between them, the sizzle, the slow burn, the way Aiden falls, and falls hard, for Rylan was perfection!
𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑟 𝐶𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑠. He was the perfect fit for voicing Aiden. He gave him all the cocky charm and emotions that truly brought him to life! 𝐸𝑟𝑖𝑛 𝑀𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑜𝑛 is a favorite for me when it comes to female narrators. The way she lent her voice to Rylan, making her blossom and come to life was addicting!
I am so glad I got to listen to this one! It's a well chiseled hockey romance filled with beautiful characters, no third act break up & lots of heart. These characters will be with me for a while! I do look forward to going back and listening to book 1, and looking forward to the next 𝙲.𝚆. 𝙵𝚊𝚛𝚗𝚜𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚑 book!
