About this listen

Detective Paige Aldridge’s family are prey for a serial killer. Desperate to help her sister, she is determined to find out who is behind it all.

After being the victim of a kidnapping, she is traumatized by memories she does not know she has. She sees visions of the murders and believes she is followed by someone she’s only seen in the shadows. Trying to run from her dreams, she is sent spiraling down a path of self-doubt, fear, and betrayal. Paige finds an unlikely friend that tries to help her by telling her unbelievable things.

Teamed up with her partner, Jay, she tries to put all of the pieces together. Are all of these things connected? Will Jay believe in her and, most importantly, will Paige believe in herself? Can she get her thoughts together before it’s too late?

Lovely narration. Didn't like the story though.

The story started off ok but took a nose dive half way through, how disappointing, the only thing that kept me listening was the lovely narration, such a calming relaxing voice that I would happily listen to again. I did however feel that because of the language and slang used an American narrator would have been a better choice for this particular story.

My Afterthoughts

I didn't know a lot about what this book was about before I started so I went in with an open mind.

My first thoughts were that with the narrator Julie-Ann Amos being a Brit that this was a book set in the UK, I found out not too long after that it was not the case and it is set in the USA.

For me the book took a little while to get going, until I was used to what was going on, I was a little confused about who was who but it did click into place as the story unraveled.

What transpired was a bit of an origin story where we learn what's going on and how the characters are connected and what they can do.

Whilst the story itself wasn't one of my favourites I did enjoy it and can see it as a scene setting for the sequels to come which do sound right up my street.
