Summary
Emma's friends are close. Her enemies are closer.
Emma Fern has won at life: she's a prize-winning author and she's blissfully happy with her husband, Jim. It wasn't an easy rise to the top, but Emma knows you can't achieve success without sacrifice. The trouble is, Jim knows that too.
As her literary triumph starts to fade into the past, Emma comes under pressure to write a second bestseller. But her big secret is that she didn't write the first one. She's a fraud, and the only people who ever knew the truth are...no longer a problem.
What Emma didn't count on was Jim playing the long game too. He has his own secrets - and a dangerous plan that could derail her beautifully orchestrated life. Faced with the loss of everything that defines her, Emma is forced to take increasingly desperate steps.
She won't go down without a fight. And as Jim should know, she won't fight fair.

Ha ha don’t drink anything
This woman gives you. Read the first one first. I have just discovered this writer and am really enjoying her ability to write a sympathetic yet truly vile and self-justifying antagonist. It’s well written, well narrated and makes you want to know what’s going to happen next. I think, maybe. It’s the sheer anxiety of the antagonist that gives this book its backbone - you identify with her. Or that could just be me I guess.

*Unhinged*
Well I don’t know what to say about this book. I remember Emma Fern as a kind young woman at the start of book one before she ever got involved in the world of pretending to be the author of a book. Once she experienced the fame and power she was unwilling to give it up. We saw how far she was prepared to go to protect her secret.
In this book we see how far removed she is from her original character. She is deluded and full of her own self importance, I feel a tad disappointed because I felt she needed to get her comeuppance, but what happens at the end shows she needed to knuckle down and actually put pen to paper.

Disappointing
Adored the first book but this just isn’t it.. it just became repetitive in the end.

Wow!
What a story! A real roller coaster ride and brilliantly narrated.
If you want an edge of your seat journey, I highly recommend this two book work.

Well written story, until the narrator ruined it!
Again another excellent book by Natalie Barelli! I love the fast pace plot, not too much unnecessary unrelated details like other books, although not keen on the ending, but it shows most of the time in real life there’s always unpunished crime out there!
Having bought the first book, I was so disappointed when the second book was narrated by different person, which was the overacting version of the first one.
I couldn’t bear listening to how each word was overly punctuated, especially with the official roles.
Note to the author: if there’s no problem in the first place, don’t fix it! Please choose your narrator with long list of excellent reviews next time. I love all your books!

Awful
I've been binging on Natalie's books but I couldn't finish this. The narrator is awful! Unsympathetic and horrible main character. No idea what the story is - just shrill, cross voices for every character. Don't waste your money on this.

The narrator absolutely destroys this book.
The narrators voice is terrible all she does is shout and bark. There is no dynamic and I couldn't get past chapter three. Which is a shame because the first book in this series was amazing.
