Critic reviews

"Lindsay C. Gibson, PsyD, gives practical insight into a prevalent problem.... The book is impeccably clear.... This utter lack of confusion makes the book quite soothing, despite the heavy subject." ( Foreword Magazine)

incredibly eye-opening

I wasn't expecting to resonate with the stories used as examples quite as much as I have. It seems like I can now put words onto emotions and feelings I hadn't been able to process, accept or name before.

highly recommend it

The insights, information and advice contained in this book are extremely helpful and have definitely moved me along considerably on my personal development.
The only thing was, lovely as the narrators voice is, its not always a consistent volume and I missed the odd word here and there. Ok if listening in a quiet space but tricky if travelling around whilst listening.

Amazing

Helped provide answers to years of distressing attempts to get a real connection with a certain emotionally absent & neglectful parent. Not only did this book have saying “yep that’s me” every few lines, it also provides excellent ways to manage your relationship better with people who are emotionally phobic and don’t know how to truly connect and listen to you. 10/10!

very insightful, yet sad

this book put a lot of things I already felt and sort of knew into perfect synch and perfection. I fully understand things in comparison to before as this book clarified things.

Clear, concise and insightful

I’ve been re-listening to this non-stop since I bought it. Along with other research, conversations with friends/family/my therapist and my own background in psychotherapy, it’s proved to be an extremely enlightening addition to understanding my child emotional neglect from emotionally immature and narcissistic parents. Thank you for this gift!
