Summary
A classic tale featuring two of the most-memorable characters in sword and sorcery, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser.
Over a span of 50 years, the late Fritz Leiber wrote dozens of adventures, set in the fictional city of Lankhmar, featuring the seven-foot-tall barbarian and the diminuitive thief. The stories were recognized with both the Hugo and Nebula Awards.

If no-one else will
I discovered the characters of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser through researching D&Ds history. As it turns out, Fritz Leiber and his colourful duo inspired everyone from Gary Gygax to Terry Pratchett.
With a publishing history that runs from 1938 to 1988, I've yet to really scratch the surface with them. But if you want to experience a piece of history within the fantasy genre, this is a damn fine audiobook for it.
The story revolves around an unreasonably tall Barbarian warrior, Fafhrd, and his friend and fellow adventurer 'the gray-mouser'. Most of their adventures take place in a fantasy city. This one, for some reason, takes place on earth. Just something to keep in mind. Early days sword and sorcery. Expect banter, semi-aimless wandering and peril.
I've given it five stars on the standards of the time. It feels surprisingly modern at points. And decidedly not at others.
