Summary
The devil you know is never the one you should trust.
Special Agent Patrick Collins is dispatched to Chicago, chasing a lead on the Morrigan’s staff for the joint task force. Needing a cover for his presence in the Windy City, Patrick is ordered to investigate a politician running for mayor. In the lead up to Election Day, not everything is what it seems in a city where playing to win means appeasing the gods first and the electorate second.
But Chicago brings its own set of problems outside the case: a standoffish local god pack, a missing immortal, and Patrick’s twin sister. Fighting Hannah and the Dominion Sect provides Patrick with a sinister reminder that some blood ties can never be cut.
Left behind in New York City, Jonothon de Vere finds himself targeted by hunters who will go through anyone to kill him - including the packs under his protection. With a bounty on his head, Jono is forced to make a choice that Patrick would never approve of. Doing so risks breaking the trust he’s built with the man he loves, but not acting will give the rival New York City god pack leverage Jono can’t afford to give up.
When Patrick and Jono reunite in Chicago, Patrick must confront the fraying of a relationship he’s come to rely on for his own sanity. But fixing their personal problems will have to wait - because Niflheim is clawing at the shores of Lake Michigan and the dead are hungry.
A Vigil in the Mourning is a 102,000 word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot and a HFN ending. It is a direct sequel to A Crown of Iron & Silver. Listening the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one.

Magnificent!
This is another fantastic part of Patrick and Jono's story in Hailey Turner's alternate fantasy world. I love the mix of magic and myth. Wherever Patrick goes, trouble follows (or maybe he just unearths it), and this time Chicago is in the cross hairs. I love the way the Gods all come and go at will, and how they have adapted to exist in the modern world. I love Patrick and Jono! They still experience some growing pains in their relationship, and sometimes get pulled between wanting to protect each other and keeping communication open, but there can be no denying how much they love each other (even if Patrick can't say it.) Then there is Wade...dragon fledgling, pickpocket, always hungry, and a constant source of humor and amusement. He can be bratty and pouty, but he is also loyal and protective of Jono and Patrick when things get rough. I absolutely love this series, and hope Hailey gets the next one out soon. I want to know if Patrick will find a way to save his sister.
The narration is always fantastic. I cannot say how impressed I am by the way Gary Furlong makes all those long and complex people and place names roll off his tongue like a second language. The sound editing is perfect, and I never hear a stumble or mistake. Really helps the listener get (and stay) immersed in the story.

This series keeps getting better
I can’t believe how much I love this series! The paranormal world is truly at its best in this series, and this book tops them all! I absolutely LOVE the variety of characters and the relationships between them. Plus this book has truly everything: love, family, friends and action, all set in a great city that can be its own character!
Gary Furlong does an outstanding job bringing these characters and their amazing story to life! This has easily become favorited mine to listen to!

More adventures with the gangs
Another exciting installment in the series. The adventure is nicely balanced with the relationship. Although I prefer it when Patrick and Jono are fighting together.
Can't wait for the next installment.

Amazing series, amazing narration.
This series continuously blows my mind. This time Patrick and Jono are dealing with Norse gods, and as always with gods, things go fubar fast. This one felt more nonstop action to me, and I was thrilled to be along for the ride. Turner is a master at adding new twists and turns, while also crafting a riveting underlying story. I think this installment did an absolutely wonderful job of showing us Pat and Jono’s love, and they are quickly moving to one of my favorite couples ever, as I swear I can feel all their love for each other. However, for me, Wade always steals the show and I loved him dearly in this one. Funny at times, at others heart-stopping and intense, this is definitely a book you don’t want to miss. As always, Gary Furlong gave an outstanding five star performance.

Just gets better and better!
A Vigil in Mourning sees the continuation of Patrick and Jono's story - romantic, pack and work. So much happens in this story!! First for Patrick when he leaves for Chicago, taking Wade with him, then for Jono in New York when it's discovered there's a bounty on his head and he makes the very unwise decision to not tell Patrick about it until he's back home...... doesn't work out so well. Communication is key, especially for a new couple and a newly formed pack! There are new gods that we meet with Patrick in Chicago and damn do they play dirty to get what they want! There is so much action that happens with fighting, secrets revealed and political scandals. You have to pay attention though because at the same time Jono is being attacked and making deals to help keep the people of his pack safe. It's a lot to pay attention to but so worth it.
Patrick and Jono's relationship, though rocky at times, really shines in how much they've come to mean to each other in the short amount of time that they've been together. Something neither expected but is more than grateful to have. Wade is a brilliant character, a perfect eighteen year old in that he complains a lot, is always hungry and is quite demanding but when needed, truly comes through.
The imagination that Hailey Turner has to write this series is phenomenal and the people, events and interactions that happen just keep you transfixed throughout the whole story, needing to know more, wanting the best for the MC's and those important to them. This is one of my favourite series and I cannot wait to see what happens next with the Dominion Sect and how Jono's pack will grow and go up against the other god pack of New York.
Gary Furlong continues to do such a fantastic job narrating the SoulBound! He provides real depth to his characters and I can now recognise each character's voice as we go through the story and I'm just pulled in right from the start.

Testing the Soul Bond
When Patrick is sent to Chicago on business, Jono is left in New York to defend his god pack. Being apart doesn’t work well for these two as they both get into some serious trouble. I watched that and counted down the minutes until they could be together – and then watched the metaphorical fireworks when each found out what the other had been up to without them.
Hurt feelings and anger, anyone? Then the mother of all reunions. Poor Wade. And how is our friendly fledgling dragon doing? Well, he’s still eating continuously, getting into mischief, and then shifting when his help is really needed. So basically being Wade. Oh, and Hermes is up to his old tricks. The trickster indeed.
This book is fast-paced and full of gods, vampires, wolves, and everything else I’ve come to expect from Ms. Turner’s Soulbound series. At times I would almost get lost then I’d be anchored by some point of reference. Also, I had high hopes something good might come from Hannah’s reappearance. Patrick’s twin sister isn’t faring well these days.
So, yeah, action, adventure, the mother of all showdowns in the windy city, and a satisfactory ending. Everything I was expecting. I will say that fortunately I’ve read the three previous books as I think this is a series you need to read in order. Could someone with an agile mind and an ability to absorb many characters do okay? Sure. But it’s so much more fun to follow these two and their merry band from the beginning.
As always, I have to give a shout out to Gary Furlong. As a narrator he’s everything you would wish for when you’ve got dozens of characters with a myriad of accents. He delivers another tour de force performance. I’m glad I listened and I can’t wait to see what these guys get up to next.

Urban fantasy at it's finest.
I could listen to Gary Furlong's Jono allllllllll day long. He really brings Hailey's world to life, embodying the characters completely. His narration is spot on and he brings the dramatic tension, humour, passion, and affection of each character out with just the sound of his voice.
I've been a huge fan of this series since day 1 and have both the ebooks and the audible versions. Without fail I catch something new and delicious when I listen after reading.
This series is just straight up magical thanks to Gary's narration. I won6gush about the book itself because I've already done so in my amazon kindle review but this series is just that good.

There are no words to describe how fantastic
Gary Furlong has managed through each and every book to remain constant with his voices and his telling of the book.
This book was outstanding I truly felt transported into this world, to the point the people around me looked at me odd, this series has been one of the best for me and also one of the rare ones where I battle to tell if reading the book myself or listening to it is better,

Such a fantastic addition to the series...
5 Stars!
I really suggest reading/listening to this series from the start, while Hailey is really good about providing background info about what happened in the previous books, you'll be missing out if you don't read them all.
In the interest of not spoiling the story for anyone, I'm just gonna share a few of my impressions of the book:
1. Who knew stupid was catching? *sighs wearily and slaps Jono upside his head*
2. Wade gets more adorable and overall awesome with every installment. I love him so much. He's hilarious and I adore his snack/hot dog/motorcycle-loving ways.
3. The Chicago god pack is amazing. I hope this is not the last we've seen of them.
4. I really, really hope Estelle and Youssef and Ethan, but especially Estelle and Ethan, get their comeuppance soon.
This series is one of my top favorites ever and each new book just gets better and better. Jono and Patrick keep getting closer and their relationship, aside from Jono's bout of stupid at the start of this book, keeps progressing nicely. I love that while they have this intense chemistry and they're oh so very hot together, the book doesn't really center on them having sex, but on the main storyline. Still, I live for those small touches between them, for their connection that transcends just the physical.
The book was fast-paced, fun, entertaining, with lots of explosive action and a fantastic plot with varied and intriguing characters and a strong core cast that I love catching up with in every installment.
Gary Furlong did such a fantastic job with this book and bringing the story and all the different characters in it to life. My favorite is still Jono, but Wade is a close second, LOL. Gary really captured the spirit of my favorite dragon shifter. <3
Book 5 can't come soon enough!
