Summary

Angels walk among us, but so do other unearthly beings in this brand-new series by the internationally best-selling author of the Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series.

Meet Detective Zaniel Havelock. A man who can talk to angels.

As an angel speaker, Zaniel once used his special gift to serve both the celestial beings and his fellow humans. But a terrible betrayal forced him to abandon that life. Now he's a cop working in the City of Angels.

But where angels walk among us, so do demons. And there's no question that there's evil at work when Zaniel is called to the murder scene of a college student. But is this just evil that one human being can do to another, or something more? When demonic possession is a possibility, even angelic protection can only go so far.

The race is on to stop the killer before he finds his next victim. But Zaniel is facing his own very personal demons and the past he never truly left behind....

Critic reviews

"Wow! [This audiobook] has it all - a terrific new character, devious twists, plenty of action and one hell of an ending." (Jonathan Maberry, New York Times best-selling author of Ink and Rage)

it was ok

I wouldn't gush about the story, as it was only, ok,
I'm use to LKH other works ( Merry & Anita ) the narrator was easy to listen too.
Would I recommend, not really, I'm a massive fan of LKH, but this story just didn't do it for me.

Wrong Choice of Narrator

Really not happy with the narrator. Wooden and voice too high pitched for the character. Very disappointing.

Another great supernatural cop book.

I loved that. It's not sexual, but then neither was Anita Blake to begin with. it has the same supernatural cop feel. I look forward to more in this series.

New Protagonist from my favorite author!

loved this book, it was a new world from Hamilton and as immersive and thought provoking as Anita and Merrys.

If you are into supernatural you will get your fill.

First time I have read this author…
If there is one bit of feedback I would give to the author it is beware repetition and padding out the story with ‘going over what has been revealed so far’. Some parts were like copy and paste of rewrites, along side the original. It became a bit irritating, but didn’t spoil my overall enjoyment. I am looking forward to reading more of their work.
Hope there is a sequel as I like the characters in this work.

couldn't get through this

A brilliant idea and it might have been a good story. Unfortunately 60% of the book is in depth physical descriptions of people. THEN, in depth analysis of one persons physical description compared to another person. I got tired of skipping forward only for yet another person to have walked into the room.
please redo this without so many descriptions.
