About this listen
The third book in the best-selling Chronicles of St Mary's series which follows a group of tea-soaked disaster magnets as they hurtle their way around History. If you love Jasper Fforde or Ben Aaronovitch, you won't be able to resist Jodi Taylor.
History happens all around you. And, occasionally, to you.
I could have been a bomb-disposal expert, or a volunteer for the Mars mission, or a firefighter, something safe and sensible. But, no, I had to be an historian.
It began well. A successful assignment to 17th century Cambridge to meet Isaac Newton, and another to witness the historic events at The Gates of Grief. So far so good.
But then came the long-awaited jump to the Trojan War that changed everything. And for Max, nothing will ever be the same again.
With the bloody Battle of Agincourt playing out around her, Max risks everything on one last desperate gamble to save a life and learns the true meaning of a second chance.

Builds on the earlier books with new twists and turns an enjoyable listen pushing the realms of time travel.

Loving this series of books!!!
Any additional comments?
I'm romping through this series and can only say that the writing, storyline and narration is simply getting better and better. Nothing else is getting a look in, I'm onto book 4 and already have book 5 lined up. I will feel bereft when that's over and will need the new book as soon as it's released!
What a wonderful joy it is to find something I don't have to say "good, but" about and only have to enjoy.
This story is thoroughly engrossing and interesting, the writing is engaging and highly amusing often. The characters are well defined now and the narrator brings it all to life beautifully.

The Tales Get More Complex
So you think Max's world is already quite complex ? Read this book and you will think you've landed in a conundrum theme park.
Fantastic tale. Straight on to the next part...

My favourite CoSM book so far...
I have to confess I nearly gave up on the whole CoSM series halfway through this book. I won't give anything away but I really disliked the direction it was taking. All I will say is that you should persevere as the book will amply reward you in the end. Love it Love it Love it.

Worth the effort
Complicated plot, sometimes difficult to follow. Originality and highly engaging heroine make for a very enjoyable read.

Recommend
These Chronicles of St Mary's series are fantastic, very well narrated by Zoe Ramm.. If they ever made a film of these, then she is Max!
The premise of these stories is genius! Can't wait for the next one!
If you could visit any point in time, where would you go?
