About this listen
The Chinese Lord of the Rings.
The most popular series by the most successful Chinese author - a cultural monument translated into English for the first time.
China: 1200 A.D.
In the fourth and final volume of Legends of the Condor Heroes, the first novel in the Condor Trilogy, Guo Jing is at last forced to make a choice between loyalty to the land of his birth and keeping faith with Genghis Khan, who has been like a father to him. As the Mongol armies descend on China, Jin Yong brings this most beloved of his books to a thrilling conclusion, complete with vast battles, stirring heroism, heartbreak, triumph and loss.
This volume will be followed by the first volume in the second novel of the Condor Trilogy, Return of the Condor Heroes.
The series every Chinese reader has been enjoying for decades.

What a whirlwind of a story!
The next instalment in the Heroes of the Condor series introduces a whole score of new characters and at first I was somewhat disappointed not to be able to follow Guo Jing and Lotus anymore as they only appear briefly and are not at the heart of this story. However, the plot picked up and raced forward at astonishing pace, the new characters were complex, deep, fun and fascinating, the story weaved unpredictably towards a dramatic cliffhanger and I cannot wait for the next book to be translated. All hail Gigi Chang!
Daniel York Loh is one of my favourite narrators, he is absolutely amazing and I couldn’t wish for a better voice to tell me this story. I can’t recommend the series enough, read it people, it’s brilliant.

The enjoyable saga continues
I am extremeley happy that York Loh carries on narrating this super saga. His dulcet narrating and the lovely way he pronounces the names and concepts pulls me right in. As a learner of Mandarin Chinese it's doubly lovely to listen. The story is completely action-packed of course. The only problem is my disliking of the main character in this one...grandpa Yang would be appalled. Hope Hibiscus will hammer some sense into him at some point, because he is just obnoxious!!
