Summary

One of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is also one of the most celebrated. Here, two mismatched couples, a wedding gone awry, magic, fairies, a troupe of actors, and a series of elaborate high jinks put on by a mischievous woodland sprite have been keeping audiences enthralled and amused for centuries. Loved for its lighter and lyrical qualities as well as it’s more serious themes, A Midsummer Night’s Dream sparks the imagination, tickles the funny bone, and stimulates the mind. This special and faithful audio edition is brought to you by the famed Marlowe Dramatic Society, whose members include Ian McKellen, Prunella Scales, and Trevor Nunn.

Mostly good...

Would you listen to A Midsummer Night's Dream (Dramatised) again? Why?

I live Dream and always return to it in times of stress. I already have 2 versions and was looking for another. This one certainly isn't my favourite. It's 'ok'. It's clear but the actors sometimes sound too similar and I found the young lovers and puck both sounded old.

Who was your favorite character and why?

No favourites here.

Did the narrators do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Again, here was the problem. Hard to differentiate and the voices did not seem appropriate to the characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Nope

Wonderful.

You can never go wrong with one of Shakespeare's play. And a Midsummer night's dream is a perfect pick me up in the bleak midwinter.
