Summary
Jay Allan and Cindy Cooper were soap-opera stars in the late '90s, a wholesome young husband-and-wife duo who combined musical talent with humor and charisma. When the truth about their sexual orientations came to light, their marriage and TV careers ended, but decades later they have remained friends. Together, they open Palm Springs’ chicest movie memorabilia store, Hooray for Hollywood, but no customers and dwindling finances spell trouble.
A Hail Mary arrives in the form of Yana Tosh, a ninety-year-old diva of the silver screen who has amassed a valuable collection of costumes and props and is looking to sell. But first, Jay and Cindy have to beat their competition, a vice president from a mega-auction house with ten times their resources. And when he winds up dead, they become prime suspects in the murder.
With their freedom and livelihoods on the line, Jay and Cindy desperately need to clear their names. There are plenty of other potential suspects, but they'll have to solve it soon before they're forced to trade in their vintage costume collection for two orange jumpsuits.

Great book really enjoyed it!
I had pre-ordered this book from its description, it sounded fun and interesting. I am very happy to say it delivered what I wanted, well to a degree, seeing there were two narrators I was expecting them to do the voices of the two main characters and other voices a bit like the old wireless radio shows. But no, they just take it in turns to read chapters. I did enjoy the performances and their voices were great, but it felt a bit like a bit of a missed opportunity. Paul Bellantoni has a fantastic voice and sounds like JK Simmons, I would of loved it if he had done all the male voices and Melanie Carey did all the female voices. I think it would of given them a bit more free rain to play with the voices and have a bit more fun. Or if they had split up the characters so Paul did some select voices and Melanie did the others so it felt like more or a conversation. There are some truly fantastic narrators out there who have a massive range for character voices. But as this is about Hollywood and Show Business I feel they should of played on that more and made it more of a radio show. There was a great film from the early 2000's called The Radioland Murders. Check it out! The story of this book was really interesting and some of the references to movies are wonderful! As someone who worked for Blockbuster Video for over ten years. I loved some of the movies mentioned. Chopping Mall was a classic on VHS. And the mention of the Jurassic Park 4x4 fantastic. Zac Bissonnette, has a great sense of taste for films. I am really interested in hearing the next book in the series!
