Summary
Do you understand Canada’s complex and intricate history? Are you looking for a compact, concise, and all-encompassing summary of the world’s second-largest country by total area?
Canada is a land renowned for its stunning beauty and abundant natural resources but is rarely considered to have a particularly captivating history. Its people, stereotyped as polite and friendly, are seldom viewed as they are: the products of an intricate and complex struggle. Yet in truth, Canada and its people are the results of centuries of cultural collisions, compromises, and collaborations.
From the footsteps of the first humans on the North American continent, Canada has grown and prospered thanks to the continual crossroads of empires that have marked the land from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
In A Brief History of Canada, you will discover how a rancorous European rivalry drove settlers to the rocky Canadian shoreline and into the diverse and multi-layered world of the First Nations and Inuit. Follow the French fur trader through the Great Lakes, meet the Métis on the Canadian prairies, and bear witness to the juggernaut of the British Empire. Learn why Canada is much more than meets the eye.

A Great Summary!
This is the first book in the series I've listened to and I really enjoyed it. I learned about the history of Canada's indigenous people, more about the Anglo-French rivalry, the war on 1812 and the valuable efforts and impact the Canadians had on World War I. An excellent job among a lot of other things. The book was very well researched and organised, and I can't wait to learn more!

I love history book.
The book provides an overview of Canada's history from pre-colonial times to the present day.
One of the strengths of the book is its comprehensive coverage of Canadian history. The author provides a detailed account of key events and developments, including the interactions between Indigenous peoples and European explorers and settlers, the establishment of British and French colonies, the Confederation of Canada in 1867, and the country's evolution into a modern, multicultural society. Thanks a lot.

Great guide for self-discovery and learning
Now having Canada in my life as family-in-law move there and several friends also make the move, it is great to learn more about its history before I visit - I didn't know without this book that Canada has such a captivating story. Its history of wars and people is explained perfectly and clearly, with a simplified version of what is an intricate and complex struggle between nations. Great listening and a perfect way to learn!

If you want to learn about the history of Canada and you want to understand its complexity, then you need to listen to this audiobook! The author does a great job leading the listener through the major historical events of the second biggest country by land mass. I haven’t been to Canada before, but listening to this very informative audiobook, I want to visit now more than ever and conquer its beauty. The narration sounds nicely and flows well with the author’s message. Highly recommended audiobook!

Informative and Concise
Not from Canada, I went into this audiobook without much knowledge other than my visits there. The author concisely summarizes the transformation and progression of Canada in a concise and easily understood way. Some facts are well known, and others you can tell the author did some deep research. Great resource!

Great for Travelers!
I enjoyed listening to this book as it was not a long, in-depth treatise on Canada. It didn't make me feel like I was in school. I loved that it was culturally sensitive and mostly focused on how the country evolved from early discovery to the Canada of the present. It touches on most of the major events that changed the culture of the people there. This is a great book for travelers because they can understand some of the roots of the people that live there and some of the problems they face today. I think it is also a must for someone who might be thinking about moving to Canada. It's also great for home-schooling! The narrator is also very pleasant to listen to. I recommend this book, and will most likely also listen to other books in this series!

The comprehensive and tumultuous history of Canada
A brief history of Canada is just that. Brief, to the point and packed with all the necessary details to properly educate and inform you about Canadas varied history over the past thousands years. That’s a thousand years condensed into under an hour…an impressive feat by no doubt.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook, being a complete rookie on my knowledge and history of Canada. But now I can with confidence speak about Canada’s eye opening history.

So pleased with this wonderful listen
Wow oh wow! I've been looking for a book like this for a long time. As a French Canadian who's traveled the world and now lives across the world, I am always saddened to see that our rich heritage and history is misunderstood and misinterpreted. This book offers a summary which covers historic events from various perspectives, one where the First Nations are recognised for their presence on this land first, and how colonisation from rival European empires led to the rich culture of the nation today.
