Arthur MacArthur needs a job, and not just for the money. Before he dropped out of school to support his younger sister, he loved being a research assistant at the university. But working for a dragon, one of the rarest and least understood magical beings, has unforeseen complications. While Arthur may be the only applicant who isn’t afraid of Philbert Jones in his dragon form, the instant attraction he feels for his new employer is beyond disconcerting.
Bertie is a brilliant historian, but he can’t find his own notes without help - his house is a hoard of books and antiques, hence the need for an assistant. Setting the mess right is a dream come true for Arthur, who once aspired to be an archivist. But making sense of Bertie’s interest in him is another matter. After all, dragons collect treasure, and Arthur is anything but extraordinary.

Dragons own treasures
This was my first dragon romance and it read like a fairytale. The poor, innocent, good boy finding a job as a dragon's assistant. The plot is mostly him getting to know dragon culture and history, while the dragon pays him compliments. And like most romances, the love interest is wealthy, a bit dangerous, protective and posessive.
The narration was acceptable. He should have paused more. And the sex scenes sounded like one long recitation that was hard to stay focused on.

Languid, heartfelt and beautiful.
the narration isn't for everyone, but the elongated pronunciation when Bertie says Arthur's name is exactly how I'd imagine a dragon would speak - languid and full of meaning. My only criticism of the author is a personal preference for epilogues to show an event after the HEA that is implied at the end of every novel I've listened to so far.

Nice story but terrible narration!

This is a nice story. Not terribly exciting or plot driven, it's a casual feel good book about two not very adventurous characters falling in love. And while Arthur and Bertie weren't very adventurous, I did enjoy them both as characters. Sadly, I gave up on the audiobook a few hours in because the reader was painful to listen to. I had the speed set to 1.45 just to make it listenable and even then, every time the narrator said 'Arthur..' it lasted for about 4 seconds. I dread to think what it was like in normal speed. Painful! I read the second half on kindle. I agree with the reviewer who said to skip the audiobook and get the kindle. I wish I'd read the reviews before I bought the audio version.
