Making critical food production easier!
Greenfield walks readers through essential homesteading skills such as organic gardening, food preservation, and responsible poultry care. One of the book’s greatest strengths is its step-by-step guidance. The book is filled with actionable tips, making it easy for beginners to start small and gradually build their homesteading knowledge.
We find a practical and inspiring roadmap for anyone looking to cultivate a more self-sufficient lifestyle—whether they have acres of land or just a small backyard. With an accessible approach, Greenfield demystifies homesteading, making it clear that you don’t need a traditional farm to grow your own food, raise healthy chickens, and embrace sustainability.
A standout aspect of the book is its emphasis on sustainability and self-sufficiency. Greenfield says,“The most rewarding harvest isn’t just in what you grow—it’s in what you learn along the way.”
The book highlights the joy of simplicity, showing how even small efforts—such as composting, making homemade cleaners, or growing herbs on a windowsill—can make a meaningful impact. Greenfield’s warm and encouraging tone makes this book both an informative guide and an enjoyable read. As she wisely states, “Homesteading isn’t about how much land you have; it’s about how you use what you have to create a life of abundance.”

My short path to self-sufficiency
When I first saw the book, I was a bit skeptical. I mean, come on, how can you homestead without acres of land? Turns out, you can do a LOT, even in a small backyard like mine. Thanks to this book, I've got a thriving garden and managed to raise a couple of hens in a little coop.
This book doesn't just teach you stuff, it INSPIRES you. It's a reminder that you don't need a huge farm to connect with nature and enjoy the satisfaction of growing your own food.
So yes, if you're a city dweller who's always dreamed of a touch of country living, give this book a shot. It's a rewarding journey, and who knows, you might just become the next homesteading hero!

Thinking about a simpler lifestyle
I'm originally from the city and I’ve been wanting to grow my own food and maybe even raise a few hens, but I had no idea where to start. This book gave me a realistic look at what’s actually possible without needing a full farm. The gardening tips were especially helpful since I don’t have a ton of space, and I liked that it covered food preservation too. It made the idea of a more self-sufficient lifestyle feel doable. A great guide for beginners like me!

A Game-Changer for Urban Farming
I never imagined I could live a self-sufficient lifestyle in an urban setting, but this resource proved me wrong. The advice on growing organic fruits and vegetables in small containers was practical and innovative, and the creative tips on raising hens in limited space were eye-opening. Implementing these methods has transformed my routine—my kitchen is now filled with fresh produce, and I’ve reduced my reliance on store-bought food. The guide is easy to follow, even for complete beginners like me. It has not only boosted my productivity but also my overall sense of well-being, proving that you don’t need a large farm to enjoy the benefits of homesteading.
